Bambu Lab PA6-CF is a carbon-fibre reinforced nylon (PA6) engineering filament built for strong, stiff, heat-resistant functional parts on enclosed high-temp printers.
PA6-CF is Bambu Lab’s carbon-fibre reinforced Nylon 6 — the filament you reach for when a printed part has to behave like a real engineering component. Chopped carbon fibre boosts stiffness and dimensional stability while the PA6 base brings toughness, fatigue resistance and a high service temperature. It’s a step up from PLA-CF or PETG: this is material for jigs and fixtures, tooling, drone and RC frames, gears and bearing blocks, brackets under load, automotive and engine-bay components, and end-use functional prototypes. If you’re a workshop, school engineering lab or small manufacturer printing parts that get used rather than displayed, this is the spool for the job.
PA6-CF is an advanced material and needs the right hardware. Run it on an enclosed, high-temperature printer — Bambu Lab X1 series, P1S, P2S or H2D — fitted with a hardened steel nozzle, since carbon fibre will chew through a standard brass one. A 0.6 mm nozzle gives the most reliable flow. It is not suited to open-frame, low-temperature machines.
Carbon-fibre reinforced PA6 High stiffness & strength Excellent wear resistance High heat resistance ±0.03 mm tolerance Matte engineering finish RFID spool — auto-recognised Anneal for extra strength
If you’re printing from Bambu Studio or Orca Slicer, select the built-in Bambu PA6-CF profile as your starting point — it already sets the chamber, flow and cooling behaviour for you.

PA6-CF is offered in a single engineering black with the characteristic matte, slightly speckled carbon-fibre finish — it hides layer lines well and looks the part on functional hardware.
Dry it, then keep it dry. Nylon is the most moisture-hungry common filament, and PA6-CF is no exception — a spool left out on the bench for a day or two in an Australian summer will print stringy, foamy and brittle with poor layer adhesion. Dry a fresh spool before its first print (80 °C for 8–12 h), then run it straight from a sealed dry box or a drying-capable AMS with desiccant. If prints suddenly turn crackly and rough, moisture is almost always the cause, not your settings.
Manage warping and wear. PA6 shrinks as it cools, so use a hot bed, keep the enclosure closed and the door shut, and add a brim on large flat footprints. Glue stick on smooth PEI both improves first-layer grip and protects the plate. And do check your nozzle before you start — printing carbon fibre through brass will erode the orifice within a spool or two and quietly ruin your dimensional accuracy.
