About this product
Bambu Lab PLA Basic CMYK Multipack — 1.75 mm, 1 kg Spools
PLA Basic is the filament most Bambu Lab owners keep loaded by default, and this CMYK multipack is the sensible way to stock up. It is a straightforward polylactic acid (PLA) — printed cool, no heated enclosure required, very little warping, and a clean matte-satin finish that holds fine detail. That makes it the right first choice for hobbyists learning their machine, classrooms running a print farm of A1s, and small businesses turning out prototypes, jigs, display pieces and product mock-ups without babysitting the printer.
Typical jobs it handles well: functional prototypes, enclosures and brackets for indoor use, tabletop miniatures and terrain, cosplay props, signage and lettering, educational models, and multi-colour prints where a consistent base material across every AMS slot keeps tuning simple. Each spool carries a Bambu Lab RFID tag, so an AMS-equipped printer identifies the colour and material and loads the right profile without you touching the slicer.
Key Features
RFID auto-recognition AMS compatible ±0.03 mm tolerance Up to 300 mm/s Low warping No enclosure needed Vacuum-sealed with desiccant 10 colours
Print Settings
- Nozzle temperature: 190–230 °C (start around 220 °C and run a temperature tower on a new spool)
- Bed temperature: 35–45 °C — a textured PEI plate at 40 °C needs no glue or adhesion aids
- Print speed: up to 300 mm/s on a Bambu Lab machine; 40–80 mm/s suits older or bed-slinger printers
- Part cooling fan: 100% — PLA benefits from maximum cooling for sharp overhangs and bridges
- Drying (if needed): 55 °C for 8 hours
- Nozzle: any standard brass 0.2–0.8 mm nozzle; no hardened nozzle required

Practical Tips
Keep it dry, especially in an Australian summer. PLA absorbs moisture more slowly than nylon or PETG, but a spool left open through a humid Brisbane or Darwin week will start popping and stringing. Keep the supplied desiccant with the spool in a sealed box or dry box between prints, and if prints turn rough or brittle, run the spool at 55 °C for 8 hours before writing it off.
Mind the heat, not the printer. PLA softens from around 60 °C, so it is not the material for a part that lives in a parked car or in direct summer sun — choose PETG or ABS for those. For everything indoors, run cooling at 100%, drop the first-layer speed a little on tall thin models, and leave the bed at 40 °C on a textured PEI plate; parts release cleanly once the plate cools without needing glue.
