Print settings

• Nozzle temperature: 190–230 °C (start at 210 °C and tune in 5 °C steps)
• Bed temperature: 35–45 °C with glue on a smooth PEI or cool plate; a textured PEI plate at 55–60 °C also works well
• Print speed: up to 300 mm/s — the Bambu Studio PLA Matte profile is a reliable starting point
• Part cooling: high — run the part fan at or near 100 % for crisp overhangs and an even matte texture
• Drying: 55 °C for 8 hours in a filament dryer or blast oven if the spool has been open a while
• Nozzle: any standard 0.4 mm nozzle; matte PLA contains mineral filler, so hardened steel is a good idea for high-volume use

Practical tips

Keep it dry. Matte PLA picks up moisture faster than glossy PLA thanks to its filler content, and damp filament shows up as faint popping, stringing and a patchy surface. In humid parts of Australia — think a Brisbane or Darwin summer — store spools in a sealed box or AMS with fresh desiccant between prints, and run a 55 °C / 8 h dry cycle if a spool has been sitting out.

Let the finish do the work. Matte surfaces hide small defects, so you can often skip 0.12 mm layer heights and print at 0.2 mm with no visible penalty — faster prints, same clean look. The flip side is scratching: the textured skin marks more easily than glossy PLA, so handle fresh parts by the edges and use a soft brush rather than a scraper when cleaning supports away.
