Bambu Lab 3D Effect Plate Full Combo — A1 mini (180 mm)

The bottom of a print is usually the boring side. The Bambu 3D Effect Plate changes that: the plate's pattern transfers into the first layer as it cools, so the base of your model comes off the bed with a carbon-weave, faceted, or glittering finish already in place. No film, no spray, no sanding — just peel the part off and it's done.

This Full Combo is the complete set for the A1 mini: four plates, one in each of the four Bambu effect textures. Swap plates between jobs the same way you'd swap a PEI plate. It's a favourite with makers selling display pieces, coasters, badges and tabletop terrain, and it's an easy win in classrooms where a visible result keeps students interested.

The four finishes

• Carbon Fiber — a fine, subtle weave that reads like real carbon. The most understated of the four and the easiest to use on functional parts.
• Diamond — faceted shapes alternating matt and gloss. Works best with shiny or metallic filaments that catch the cut faces.
• Galaxy — a dense glittering surface that shifts colour with viewing angle, like a galactic sky.
• Starry — scattered sparkling points over a smooth background for a starfield effect.

Key features

• Pattern transfers on the first layer — the effect is part of the print, not a coating that can peel off the model.
• Effect sheets pre-applied on both sides of each plate, so every plate gives you two usable surfaces.
• Adhesion without glue — run the recommended bed temperature and parts hold, then release as the plate cools.

Compatible materials

Bambu Lab recommends PLA and TPU only on the 3D Effect Plate. PETG is not recommended — it bonds hard to this surface and can tear the pattern away. For PETG, ABS, ASA, PA or PC, swap back to your textured PEI or engineering plate.

Setting it up in Bambu Studio

Three things worth knowing before your first print — they save a wasted job:

1. Set the Plate Type manually to Smooth PEI Plate / High Temp Plate. These plates have no QR code, so the printer won't auto-detect them.
2. Skip LIDAR calibration. The effect surface is reflective and the scan won't read it correctly. Run your flow and first-layer calibration on a standard plate instead, then switch over.
3. Don't apply glue. Glue stick and liquid glue both clog the texture and flatten the effect.

Care and lifespan

Treat these as a consumable — the pattern wears with use, which is normal. To get the most out of them: wash with hot water and a little detergent (never oils or solvents), avoid touching the surface with bare fingers because skin grease kills adhesion and dulls the pattern, keep the scraper away from the textured face, and vary where you place parts on the bed so you don't wear a hole in the middle of the plate.
