Bambu Lab Hotend — A1 & A1 mini
The hotend is the part of your A1 or A1 mini that does the actual work, and it's a consumable. Nozzles wear, blobs happen, and sooner or later a job calls for a different nozzle size than the one that's fitted. This is the genuine Bambu Lab replacement hotend for the A1 series: nozzle, heat break and heater block in one sealed unit that clicks into the toolhead's quick-swap clip in about a minute — no tools, no thermal paste, no wiring and no firmware changes.
Because the ceramic heater and thermistor stay with the printer, swapping hotends is fast enough to do between prints. That's why most A1 owners end up with two or three on the shelf: a 0.4 mm for everyday work, a 0.2 mm for detail jobs, and a hardened 0.6 mm for carbon-fibre filament. Pick your configuration from the options above.

Short version: if you're replacing a worn or blocked nozzle and print ordinary filament, take the 0.4 mm stainless steel. If you print anything with carbon or glass fibre in it, you need hardened steel — 0.4 mm to keep the detail, 0.6 mm if you'd rather have speed and fewer clogs. Go 0.2 mm only for genuinely small, detailed work, and 0.8 mm when you want big parts finished fast.

Fitting it — about a minute
- Power the printer off and let the hotend cool completely.
- Unload or cut the filament at the toolhead.
- Remove the toolhead cover and slide off the silicone sock.
- Release the hotend retaining clip and pull the old hotend straight down.
- Push the new hotend straight up until it seats and the clip locks.
- Refit the sock and cover, then set the new nozzle diameter and material on the printer and in Bambu Studio.
- Run the nozzle calibration so flow and offsets match the new hotend.

Bambu Lab Hotend 0.4 mm Stainless Steel — A1 / A1 mini
This is the hotend your A1 or A1 mini left the factory with: a 0.4 mm stainless steel nozzle in Bambu Lab's sealed quick-swap assembly. If you've had a blob of death, a clog you can't clear, or a nozzle leaving rough top surfaces and inconsistent walls, this is the part that puts the printer back to day-one behaviour.
0.4 mm is the default for a reason. Every stock Bambu Studio profile is tuned around it, it holds fine detail on display prints, and it still lays down enough plastic to finish functional parts in a sensible time. Stainless steel suits every non-abrasive filament the A1 series handles — PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, ASA and PVA supports. For anything with carbon or glass fibre in it, choose a hardened steel option instead.

Bambu Lab Hotend 0.2 mm Stainless Steel — A1 / A1 mini
A 0.2 mm nozzle is a specialist tool, and when the job calls for it nothing else comes close. Extruding a thinner strand lets the A1 lay down 0.05 mm layers, resolve text barely a millimetre tall, and hold the crisp edges that make tabletop miniatures, architectural models and jewellery masters look printed rather than melted.
Be realistic about the trade-off: a 0.2 mm nozzle moves far less plastic, so prints take considerably longer and large flat parts aren't worth running through it. It's also less forgiving of damp or contaminated filament. Keep it for detail work, keep a 0.4 mm on hand for everything else, and swap between them in about a minute. Non-abrasive filament only.

Bambu Lab Hotend 0.4 mm Hardened Steel — A1 / A1 mini
Carbon fibre and glass fibre are abrasive. Run them through a stainless steel nozzle for long enough and the orifice quietly widens — walls get fatter, dimensions drift, and parts that used to fit stop fitting. The hardened steel 0.4 mm hotend is the fix: identical geometry to the stock nozzle, heat-treated to resist that wear.
It's the natural choice if you like the detail of a 0.4 mm nozzle but want to print filled filaments freely. Bambu has tested PLA-CF and PETG-CF extensively at 0.4 mm hardened and rates the clog risk as low while keeping higher print quality than a wider nozzle. Non-abrasive filaments print normally through it too, so plenty of A1 owners simply leave this one fitted permanently.

Bambu Lab Hotend 0.6 mm Hardened Steel — A1 / A1 mini
If you print brackets, jigs, enclosures and replacement parts rather than display pieces, the 0.6 mm hardened steel hotend is probably the most useful one in the range. The wider bore pushes more plastic per pass, so layers go down at 0.15–0.36 mm and a print that used to tie up the machine overnight finishes in a session.
It's also Bambu Lab's recommended first choice for filled filaments. Chopped carbon and glass fibres are what clog nozzles, and a 0.6 mm orifice gives them far more room to pass — combined with hardened steel, PLA-CF, PETG-CF and glass-filled materials run with much less drama. Wider extrusions bond better too, which usually means a stronger part than the same model printed at 0.4 mm.

Bambu Lab Hotend 0.8 mm Hardened Steel — A1 / A1 mini
The 0.8 mm hardened steel hotend trades resolution for throughput, and it's a trade worth making more often than people expect. Printing thick layers with 0.8 mm wide extrusions turns an overnight planter or storage bin into an afternoon job, and a rough-fit prototype can be in your hand before lunch rather than tomorrow.
It suits anything where the part's job is structural rather than decorative: vase-mode pots, workshop jigs and fixtures, shop organisers, cosplay blanks you'll sand and fill anyway, and early prototypes where you just want to check fit. Hardened steel means abrasive filled filaments are fine too — and at this bore size, clogging is about as unlikely as it gets on the A1. Expect visible layer lines and softened fine detail; that's the deal.
