About this product
Bambu Lab Dual-Texture PEI Plate — 256 mm
Most people end up owning two build plates: a textured one for everyday prints and a smooth one for parts that need a glossy, perfectly flat base. The Dual-Texture PEI Plate puts both on a single sheet of spring steel. Textured PEI on one face, smooth PEI on the other — flip it, re-seat it on the magnetic heatbed, and you've changed surfaces in about five seconds. One plate in the drawer instead of two.
It's a genuine Bambu Lab plate (part FAP011) sized at 256 × 256 mm usable, so it drops straight onto the A1, P1P, P1S, P2S, X1C, X1E and X2D with no adapters and no adjustments. Build-plate detection and the standard surface profiles in Bambu Studio work exactly as they should.
Which side for which job
| Side | Finish on the part | Best for |
|---|---|---|
|
Textured PEI 0.075 mm coating |
Fine matte stipple, hides first-layer imperfections | Everyday PLA and PETG, functional parts, prints with big footprints, anything you want to look finished straight off the bed |
|
Smooth PEI 0.125 mm coating |
Glossy, mirror-flat bottom surface | Enclosures and lids that must sit flat, nameplates, signage, parts that get glued or bonded face-down |
One habit worth forming: PETG and TPU bond very aggressively to bare smooth PEI and can lift flecks of coating when you remove a print. A thin wipe of glue stick as a release layer on that side solves it completely — and glue stick is also recommended for PC, PA and PAHT-CF on either surface.

Key features
- Two surfaces, one plate. Saves a slot in the plate rack and the cost of a second sheet — useful if you're running a small business or a classroom set where plates go missing.
- Flex-and-release removal. The 0.4 mm magnetic stainless steel core bends enough to crack parts loose by hand, then returns flat. No scrapers, no chisels, no gouged coating.
- Let it cool first. PEI's grip drops off sharply as the bed cools; at 35 °C or below most prints release with a gentle flex, and many pop free on their own.
- Wide material range. Rated from TPU at 35 °C through to PA and PET-CF at 120 °C, so the same plate follows you from first PLA benchy to carbon-filled engineering parts.
- Easy upkeep. Wash with warm water and dish soap, or wipe with isopropyl alcohol between prints. Skin oils are the number-one cause of "my bed stopped sticking" — handle it by the edges.
Who it's for
- Makers and hobbyists who want both finishes without buying and storing two plates.
- Small businesses running mixed jobs — matte functional parts in the morning, glossy-backed signage in the afternoon.
- Schools and makerspaces needing a hard-wearing, student-proof surface that doesn't rely on tape, hairspray or constant re-levelling.
- Anyone replacing a tired plate — PEI coatings are consumable, and a fresh one is the cheapest fix for first-layer problems.
