About this product
Bambu Lab Engineering Plate — 256 mm
Engineering filaments are the ones that fight back. ABS and ASA shrink as they cool, polycarbonate and nylon pull hard at the corners, and a surface that handles PLA happily will let a tall part peel off the bed three hours in. The Engineering Plate is Bambu Lab's answer: a 0.5 mm manganese steel sheet with a polyester powder coating rated to 120 °C, so you can run a genuinely hot bed and keep a large footprint stuck down from first layer to last.
This listing is the 256 mm plate, sized for the Bambu Lab A1, P1P, P1S, P2S, X1C, X1E and X2D. It sits on the printer's magnetic heatbed with no tools, no firmware change and no calibration drama — drop it on, run your usual bed-levelling routine, and print.

Who it's for
- Functional-parts makers printing ABS or ASA brackets, housings and enclosures that need to survive a hot car or an Australian summer roof cavity.
- Small businesses and workshops running nylon and PC jigs, fixtures and wear parts where a failed 10-hour print costs real money.
- Schools and makerspaces that want one durable surface students can't ruin with a scraper, plus a second plate so the printer isn't idle while a build cools.
- Enthusiasts stepping up from PLA who have hit their first warped corner and worked out the bed surface is the problem.
Glue isn't optional here
One thing to know before you order: the Engineering Plate is designed to be used with a thin layer of glue under every material, not just the difficult ones. The glue is the interface layer — it grips while the plate is hot and lets the part release cleanly once it cools. Bambu Lab recommends using only its own Liquid Glue or Glue Stick on its build plates and won't cover damage caused by third-party adhesives. That is exactly why this product comes in two configurations.
Which configuration is right for you?
| Engineering Plate | Engineering Plate + Glues | |
|---|---|---|
| Includes | Plate only | Plate + Liquid Glue + Glue Stick |
| Ready to print on arrival | Only if you already own Bambu Lab glue | Yes — everything included |
| Best for | A spare/second plate, or restocking a bench that's already set up | First Engineering Plate, gifts, school and workshop kits |
| Liquid Glue | — | Sponge applicator, approx. 100 full-plate coats |
| Glue Stick | — | 21 g, water-soluble, fast single-part application |
Short version: if this is your first Engineering Plate, take the + Glues option — the plate simply doesn't work as intended without adhesive. If there's already a bottle of Bambu Liquid Glue on your bench, the plate on its own is all you need.
Recommended bed temperatures
| PLA / PLA-CF / PLA-GF | 45–60 °C |
| PETG / PETG-CF | 60–80 °C |
| ABS · ASA | 90–100 °C |
| PC / PC-CF · PA / PA-CF / PAHT-CF | 90–110 °C |
| PET-CF | 80–100 °C |
| TPU | 35–45 °C |
| PVA | 45–60 °C |
A hotter bed means stronger adhesion — nudge upward within the range if a tall part is lifting, and stay at the lower end if parts are gripping too hard when cold.
