Bambu Lab PLA Silk+ is a pearlescent, high-gloss PLA that gives models a smooth satin-metal sheen straight off the build plate — no sanding, no painting, no post-processing.
PLA Silk+ is standard PLA blended with pearlescent additives, which is what gives it that distinctive reflective, silk-like sheen. It prints as easily as regular PLA — no enclosure, no heated chamber, no hardened nozzle on a standard 0.4 mm hotend — but the finished part looks like it has been polished or anodised. That makes it a favourite for display models, cosplay props, figurines and busts, decorative vases, trophies, jewellery and giftware, and anything destined for a shelf rather than a load-bearing bracket.
It suits makers at any level. Beginners get a forgiving PLA that produces an impressive result on the first attempt; enthusiasts, schools and small businesses get a reliable, RFID-tagged spool that drops straight into an AMS for multi-colour work. The “+” designation is Bambu Lab’s upgraded silk formulation, with improved gloss consistency and layer adhesion over the original PLA Silk.
Works with Bambu Lab X1 series, P1 series, A1 and A1 mini, and with most other 1.75 mm FDM printers — Prusa, Creality Ender and K-series, Elegoo, Anycubic, Sovol and similar. Note that Bambu Lab does not recommend PLA Silk+ with 0.6 mm or 0.8 mm hardened steel nozzles, and the Cool Plate SuperTack is not a recommended build surface for this material.
Select your colour from the dropdown above. Every colour shares the same specifications and print settings, so you can swap between them mid-project without re-tuning your profile.
Keep it dry. Silk PLA picks up moisture from the air faster than plain PLA, and damp filament is the number one cause of stringing and dull, uneven patches on an otherwise good print. In humid parts of Australia — Brisbane, Darwin, coastal NSW — reseal the spool in its bag with desiccant between jobs, or park it in a dry box. If a spool has been sitting out and the gloss has gone flat, dry it at 55 °C for 8 hours and it will come back.
Design for the shine. Silk highlights broad, gently curved surfaces beautifully, but it also exaggerates layer lines on steep overhangs and shallow angles. Orient display models so the show face is vertical or gently sloped, use a 0.16–0.20 mm layer height, and keep the outer wall speed constant. One more thing worth knowing: the pearlescent additives make PLA Silk+ slightly more brittle and less stiff than PLA Basic, so reach for it when appearance matters and choose PLA Basic, PETG or PLA-CF for functional and load-bearing parts.
Nour Engineering Solutions accepts returns or refunds for change of mind or wrong items ordered within 30 days from the purchase date. Customers need to return the items to Nour Engineering Solutions, ensuring the items are in brand new, unused condition. Customers will also be charged for the cost of the original shipping and a re-stocking fee equal to 10% of the order value.
In case of items arriving damaged or wrong items being sent to the customer, Nour Engineering Solutions will be responsible for either exchanging stock for the customer or issuing a refund.
In the case of defective returns, refunds will only be issued after the items are returned to Nour Engineering Solutions. Nour Engineering Solutions will be responsible for the return postage, and the customer should provide reasonable assistance for the defective items to be picked up by courier, such as packing the items and printing shipping labels.
Once the order is dispatched, it is the customer’s responsibility to follow up the shipment. If the items arrive damaged, the customer should notify Nour Engineering Solutions within 2 business days after receiving the order. If the item does not arrive within 2 business days of the expected delivery date, the customer should notify Nour Engineering Solutions immediately. Nour Engineering Solutions may refuse to refund or exchange items if the customer fails to do so.
In case the first delivery attempt is unsuccessful, the parcel will be forwarded to the local Post Office or News Agency. Failure to pick up parcels within the required timeframe may result in the parcel being returned to Nour Engineering Solutions. In this case, customers will be responsible for the costs associated with re-sending the parcel.
