Bambu Lab TPU 90A is a tough, semi-rigid flexible filament on a 1.75 mm 1 kg spool — grippy and abrasion-resistant, but firm enough to print far more predictably than softer TPUs. Shore 90A flexible — springy and rubbery with excellent tear and abrasion resistance (650% elongation at break) Print settings: 200–250 °C nozzle, 30–35 °C bed, slow and steady from the external spool holder 1.75 mm diameter, ±0.03 mm tolerance, 1 kg net spool 8 colours available — Frozen, Blaze, Quicksilver, White, Black, Crystal Blue, Cocoa Brown and Grape Jelly Not AMS-compatible — prints from the external spool holder on X1, P1, A1 and H2 series 🇦🇺 Ships from Australia — GST-inclusive pricing

About this product
Bambu Lab TPU 90A Flexible Filament — 1.75 mm, 1 kg
TPU 90A sits in the sweet spot of flexible printing. At Shore 90A it bends, stretches and bounces back like a firm rubber, yet it is stiff enough to feed reliably through a direct-drive extruder — which means far fewer of the buckling and under-extrusion headaches that put people off softer 85A material. Stretch it and it will go roughly six-and-a-half times its own length before it breaks, so parts absorb impact and shrug off scuffing instead of cracking.
It is the filament to reach for when a part needs to grip, cushion, seal or survive being dropped: phone and tool cases, drone and RC bumpers, gaskets and sealing rings, vibration-damping feet for machines and speakers, watch and camera straps, wheels and tyres for RC cars, grippy jig inserts, prosthetic and orthotic padding, and protective sleeves for workshop gear. Schools and makerspaces like it because it is genuinely hard to break a finished print. If you want something softer and squishier, step down to TPU 85A; if you want to run flexible material through an AMS, you need Bambu's dedicated TPU for AMS instead.
Why makers choose TPU 90A
Shore 90A hardness 650% elongation at break High abrasion & tear resistance ±0.03 mm diameter tolerance Easier to feed than 85A RFID-tagged for Bambu printers 8 colours Low bed temp — minimal warping
Print settings
Bambu Lab printers load a tuned TPU 90A profile automatically when the spool's RFID tag is read, so for most users the presets are the right starting point. If you are dialling it in by hand — or running it on another direct-drive machine — these are the numbers that matter:
- Nozzle temperature: 200–250 °C. Start around 230 °C and raise it if layers are splitting.
- Bed temperature: 30–35 °C. TPU grips hard — use a glue-stick release layer on a textured PEI or smooth PEI plate so you can get the part off again.
- Speed: rated up to 200 mm/s, but flexibles reward patience. Start at 30–50 mm/s and only push it once the first few prints look clean.
- Cooling: roughly 50–80% part fan, with the fan off for the first layer to lock down adhesion.
- Retraction: keep it short and slow. Long, fast retractions are the main cause of jams and stringing with flexible filament.
- Nozzle size: 0.4, 0.6 or 0.8 mm. A 0.6 mm nozzle makes life noticeably easier on taller flexible parts.
- Feed path: external spool holder only — do not run TPU 90A through an AMS or AMS lite.

Tips from our workshop
Dry it, then keep it dry. TPU absorbs moisture faster than almost anything else on the shelf, and damp TPU is the number one cause of popping sounds, furry surfaces and layers that peel apart. If a spool has been open for more than a few days, run it at 70 °C for 8 hours before a big print, and store it sealed with fresh desiccant below 20% RH — worth taking seriously in humid Australian summers, especially up north.
Let the extruder do the work. Most TPU failures are feed problems, not temperature problems. Load it from the external spool holder with the shortest, straightest path you can manage, make sure the spool spins freely, and keep retraction short. If you see gaps in the walls, slow down before you reach for the temperature dial. One more thing worth knowing: flexible parts print best with a few extra walls and low infill — 3 walls and 10–15% gyroid gives you that satisfying springy feel, while high infill just makes the part stiff and wastes filament.
