Bambu Lab X2D Combo — Dual Extruder, 1,000mm/s, Multi-Material Flagship
The
Bambu Lab X2D Combo is Bambu Lab’s most capable desktop 3D printer — a true dual-extruder machine that combines 1,000mm/s print speeds with the new AMS 2 Pro multi-material system. Unlike single-extruder multi-colour setups, the X2D uses two independent nozzles: one direct drive, one Bowden, with a mechanical lift mechanism that keeps whichever nozzle isn’t printing well clear of your model. The result is cleaner multi-material prints, better soluble support performance, and zero-compromise dual-filament workflows.
If you’ve been running an X1C or P1S and want more — faster speeds, real dual extrusion, active chamber heating for engineering materials — the X2D is the natural next step. It’s also a serious option for small businesses and professional users printing in ABS, ASA, PA, PC, or carbon-fibre composites who need a consistent, enclosed, high-temperature environment on the desktop.

True Dual Extrusion — Not Just Colour Swapping
The X2D’s dual-extruder system is a step above the single-toolhead multi-colour printers. A direct-drive nozzle handles your primary filament; a second Bowden nozzle handles support or secondary material. A mechanical lift mechanism raises the inactive nozzle clear of the print surface — preventing ooze contamination and reducing the purge waste that single-nozzle multi-colour systems generate. This matters most when you’re printing soluble supports (PVA), multi-material functional parts, or any job where colour mixing would be a problem.
1,000mm/s — Twice the Speed of the X1C
The X2D doubles the X1C’s headline speed, hitting up to 1,000mm/s with 20,000mm/s² acceleration and a volumetric flow rate of 40mm³/s. In practice this means jobs that took an hour on the X1C can finish in significantly less time — without a reduction in surface quality. Active motor noise cancelling keeps the machine quieter than you’d expect at these speeds (below 50 dB).
AMS 2 Pro — Multi-Material with Active Drying
The included AMS 2 Pro handles up to four filament spools and now features active venting for passive drying — helpful when running hygroscopic materials like PA or TPU. Chain multiple AMS 2 Pro units to reach up to 24+ simultaneous materials on a single print. The system monitors filament levels, buffers feed, and handles automatic spool switching without interrupting your print.
Active Chamber Heating for Engineering Materials
The fully enclosed build chamber heats actively to 65°C. This is the feature that separates consumer from professional desktop printers: a hot chamber prevents warping and delamination in ABS, ASA, PA, and PC — materials that are notoriously difficult to print reliably in an uncontrolled ambient environment. When you don’t need the heat (PLA, PETG), a Cool Mode circulates fresh air instead. Three-stage filtration (G3 pre-filter + H12 HEPA + activated carbon) handles fumes and fine particles regardless of mode.
31 Sensors — Automation You Can Rely On
The X2D integrates 31 sensors covering everything from first-layer inspection (LiDAR + AI) to vibration compensation, flow calibration, and nozzle monitoring. Spaghetti detection and AI failure recognition monitor prints in real time. The dual-camera setup — a 1080p wide-angle liveview and a toolhead camera for close-up inspection — means you can monitor remotely with confidence rather than hope.
Who Is This For?
- X1C / P1S owners upgrading who want genuine dual extrusion and higher speeds
- Engineers & product designers printing in ABS, ASA, PA-CF, PC, or other engineering-grade materials that require a controlled hot chamber

- Hobbyists & model makers who want true dual-material prints — PLA body + PVA soluble supports, or two-colour functional parts
- Schools & makerspaces needing an enclosed, filtrated, high-capability machine with remote monitoring
