Four spools, one printer — the AMS 2 Pro is Bambu Lab's most capable multi-material system, with active drying built in so the filament you load in month six prints as cleanly as it did on day one. 4 filament slots per unit — chain up to 6 units for 24 colours in a single print Active drying to 65 °C with motorised spool rotation and an electromagnetic vent valve Built-in temperature & humidity sensor plus colour-changing desiccant for sealed dry storage RFID auto-detection reads Bambu filament type and colour — no manual profile setup Broad compatibility: X1, P1, A1, A2, P2S, H2S, H2D/H2C and X2D series printers 🇦🇺 Ships from Australia

About this product
Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro — Automatic Material System
The AMS 2 Pro is the newest and most capable unit in Bambu Lab's Automatic Material System line. It holds four spools, feeds them automatically, and — the part that genuinely changes how you print — actively dries them at up to 65 °C while they sit in the machine. That means no separate filament dryer on the bench, no vacuum bags to wrestle with, and no more first-layer disasters because a roll of PETG spent a Brisbane summer absorbing moisture.
For anyone printing multi-colour models, functional parts with dissolvable supports, or simply running a rotation of engineering materials, this is the accessory that removes the most manual handling from your workflow.
Key features
4 spools per unit
Drying to 65 °C
RFID auto-ID
Humidity sensor
Up to 24 colours chained
Sealed dry storage
- Active drying, not just storage. Heating elements bring the chamber to 65 °C while motorised rollers rotate each spool so heat reaches the whole coil evenly. An electromagnetic vent valve then exhausts the released moisture rather than recirculating it.
- Know the moisture level before you print. An onboard temperature and humidity sensor reports live readings to Bambu Studio and the Handy app, and the colour-changing silica desiccant (yellow → purple when saturated) gives you an at-a-glance check.
- Four slots, or twenty-four. One unit runs four materials. Chain up to six units and a single print can pull from 24 spools — practical for colour-heavy models, or for a school or workshop that wants a standing library of materials loaded and ready.
- RFID that does the admin for you. Load a genuine Bambu spool and the AMS reads its type, colour and remaining quantity, setting the correct profile automatically. No more printing ABS on a PLA profile.
- Automatic feeding and retraction. The AMS loads, unloads and switches filament mid-print without you touching the machine — the foundation of unattended overnight multi-material jobs.
Who it's for
- Makers and hobbyists printing multi-colour models, signage, cosplay props and board-game pieces without pausing for manual swaps.
- Small businesses running production batches who need PETG, ABS or nylon to stay dry between jobs — moisture is the single most common cause of scrapped prints.
- Schools and makerspaces where several materials need to stay loaded, labelled and correctly configured across a rotating group of users.
- Engineering users printing PA, PC or PET-CF, where drying isn't a nice-to-have but a requirement for usable mechanical properties.
What's in the box
- 1 × AMS 2 Pro unit
- 1 × desiccant pack (colour-changing silica gel)
- 4 × PTFE feed tubes
- 1 × Bambu Bus cable (6-pin)
- Power adapter and AU plug lead: [VERIFY] — inclusion varies by printer configuration. X1 and P1 series require an external adapter to use the drying function; H2/P2/X2 and A2 series can power the unit directly. Contact us if you're unsure which you need and we'll confirm before dispatch.
Compatible materials
Supported: PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PET, PA (nylon), PC, PVA and most Bambu Lab engineering filaments on 1.75 mm spools.
Not supported: TPE and soft/generic TPU — flexible filaments buckle in the AMS feed path and should be run from an external spool holder. Bambu's own TPU for AMS is the exception, being formulated with a higher shore hardness specifically for AMS feeding.
A note on carbon- and glass-filled filaments: abrasive materials such as PA-CF or PET-CF will feed, but pair them with a hardened nozzle on your printer.
