About this product
Bambu Lab Filament Track Switch — H2D
Dual-nozzle printing on the H2D is brilliant until the slicer asks for a colour that happens to be sitting on the wrong side of your setup. Normally that means pulling a spool out of the AMS, re-routing a PTFE tube, and starting again. The Filament Track Switch (part SA016) removes that step entirely.
It's a compact motorised routing box that sits between your AMS and the printer, with two inlets and two outlets. It unbinds the AMS from a specific nozzle, so any filament can feed into either hotend according to the assignment in Bambu Studio — no spool swapping, no tube reconnection, and the mapping can change mid-print. Bambu's own documentation puts it plainly: with the Filament Track Switch, a single AMS can support dual-nozzle printing and switch filament between the left and right hotends.
If you run multi-colour work, soluble or dedicated support material on one nozzle, or two different materials in the same job, this is the accessory that makes an H2D feel genuinely automatic.

Genuine Bambu Lab SA016
- Frees the AMS from the nozzle it's plumbed to. Load your spools once and let the slicer decide which hotend gets what — including changes partway through a job.
- Fewer failed multi-colour prints. Removes the most common dual-extrusion mistake: a filament physically connected to the nozzle the slicer didn't assign it to.
- Motorised, printer-controlled. A single 6-pin cable handles power and signalling from the printer — no separate supply, no AU plug pack required.
- Everything you need to fit it. Four PTFE tubes in two lengths and both screw types are in the box, so there's no second order to place.
- Works best with two AMS units. Two separate feeds into the two inlets lets the switch keep two filaments loaded at once. A single AMS still works — it feeds alternately rather than simultaneously.
Who it's for
- Multi-colour makers running four or more colours across an H2D's two nozzles.
- Small businesses and print farms where the operator shouldn't need to re-plumb a printer between jobs — a real time saver if someone other than you loads the machine.
- Schools and makerspaces wanting fewer student-facing steps and fewer mis-routed filament mistakes.
- Dual-material printers pairing a model material on one nozzle with support or a second engineering material on the other.
What's in the box
- Filament Track Switch × 1
- 6-pin cable × 1
- PTFE tube, 700 mm × 2
- PTFE tube, 400 mm × 2
- ST3×10 screw × 4 (2 used for installation, 2 spare)
- BT2×8 screw × 2
Please note: the mounting holder is not included — Bambu Lab publishes model-specific printable holders (including a dedicated H2C/H2D design) on MakerWorld, so you print your own before fitting. Handy, given what the printer in front of you does for a living.
Before you fit it — materials & routing
- Update your firmware first. H2D support requires printer firmware v01.04.00.00 or later, released 26 August 2026, along with Bambu Studio v2.8.1.55+ or Handy v3.24.0+.
- Use the correct PTFE. Bambu specifies tube with a 2.5 mm internal / 4 mm external diameter. Off-spec tube is the number-one cause of feeding failures through the switch — the supplied tubes are already the right size.
- Keep tube runs short. AMS-to-switch runs should stay under 700 mm. The switch adds resistance to the filament path, and over-long tubing eats into the buffer's tolerance.
- Go easy on fragile filaments. Bambu advises keeping feed-sensitive materials such as PLA-CF, PLA Glow and PLA Silk off the switch and feeding them by a direct path instead.
- External spools aren't supported. Dynamic mapping doesn't work with an external spool — remove the switch for those jobs.
