Bambu Lab Hotend Expansion Kit — H2D / H2S / H2C (left) / P2S / X2D

Your printer shipped with a 0.4 mm hotend, and it does most jobs well. This kit covers everything either side of it. Drop in the 0.2 mm for miniatures, embossed text and tight mechanical detail, or move up to 0.6 mm and 0.8 mm when you want thicker extrusions, fewer walls and far less time watching the print. All three are Standard Flow hotends built for the H2, P2 and X2 generation, with the same quick-release latch mounting as the hotend already in your machine.

Because the heating assembly stays mounted in the printer, swapping sizes is a latch release and a push — no screws, no thermistor wiring, no cold-pull rituals. Run a 0.2 mm detail print in the morning and an 0.8 mm bracket after lunch.

What each nozzle size is for

• 0.2 mm (stainless steel) — tabletop miniatures, scale model parts, jewellery masters, small embossed lettering and anything where layer and wall detail matters more than speed. Expect longer print times and plan for PLA, PETG and other unfilled filaments.
• 0.6 mm (hardened steel) — the practical everyday upgrade. Thicker extrusions mean stronger walls and noticeably quicker prints on functional parts, jigs, enclosures and prototypes, while still holding reasonable detail.
• 0.8 mm (hardened steel) — big, chunky, structural work: planters, tooling, brackets, props and classroom demo pieces where throughput beats fine features.

Filament compatibility

The 0.6 mm and 0.8 mm nozzles are hardened steel, which is what Bambu Lab recommends for carbon-fibre and glass-fibre reinforced filaments — PLA-CF, PETG-CF, PAHT-CF, PA6-GF and similar abrasives that chew through brass.

The 0.2 mm nozzle is stainless steel and is best kept for unfilled materials. Bambu Lab's own guidance is that filaments containing carbon fibre, glass fibre, metal or other inorganic particles are prone to clogging a 0.2 mm nozzle, so run those through the larger sizes instead.

Note that on this printer generation the hotend separates from the Hotend Heating Assembly, which stays in the machine — so no heater, thermistor, fan, sock or screws are included, and none are needed for a swap. If your heating assembly itself is damaged, that's a separate part.
