Bambu Lab PETG Basic 1.75mm — for the parts that have to hold up

The moment a print stops being a display piece and starts doing a job — a bracket under load, an enclosure in the sun, a jig you'll use a hundred times — PLA becomes the wrong material. Bambu Lab PETG Basic is the step up. It prints almost as easily as PLA, but it flexes instead of shattering, shrugs off water and UV, and holds its shape in a hot car or a sunny window.

PETG (polyethylene terephthalate glycol) sits neatly between PLA and ABS, which makes this the natural everyday filament for brackets, enclosures, jigs, planters, outdoor fittings and replacement parts around the workshop or classroom.

Before you buy — the four things people ask

"Will it work on my printer?"
Yes. It works out of the box on Bambu Lab X1, P1 and A1 series printers, and prints well on any FDM machine that can reach 250°C on the hotend and 70°C on the bed — Prusa, Creality, Elegoo, Anycubic and similar. Standard brass nozzle is fine; no hardened nozzle required (unlike PETG-CF).

"Do I have to dial in a profile?"
No. The embedded RFID tag means an AMS-equipped printer identifies the spool and loads the right profile without you touching a setting.

"Isn't PETG stringy and fussy?"
This one is genuinely beginner-friendly. Bambu Lab's formulation is noticeably less moisture-sensitive than typical PETG, so it strings far less than the material's reputation suggests. If you do see hairs, drop the nozzle temperature 5°C at a time before touching retraction — PETG almost always strings because it's too hot or too wet, not because retraction is wrong.

"Am I getting a full spool or a refill?"
A full spool. This listing is supplied as filament on a spool — 1kg of 1.75mm filament on a reusable spool, not a refill.

• Nozzle temperature: 230–260°C (start around 250°C and tune down if you see stringing)
• Bed temperature: 65–75°C — Textured PEI, Smooth PEI and Cool Plate SuperTack all work
• Print speed: up to 200 mm/s; slowing to 40–60 mm/s sharpens overhangs and bridges
• Part cooling fan: 0–60% — PETG needs far less cooling than PLA, and too much fan weakens layer bonding
• Nozzle: standard brass is fine; no hardened nozzle required (unlike PETG-CF)
• Adhesion: skip the glue stick on smooth PEI — PETG bonds a little too well, and a thin release layer protects the plate

Reflex Blue (30603)

Reflex Blue is a deep, saturated blue that reads clean and professional on enclosures and functional parts — and it hides layer lines better than lighter shades. As this line has been discontinued, Reflex Blue is the only colour still available in this range.

Tips for best results

Keep it dry. PETG Basic tolerates humidity better than most PETG, but if the spool has been sitting in air above 50% relative humidity for more than about three days, dry it at 65°C for 8 hours before printing. Damp PETG shows up as fine hairs between parts, a crackling sound at the nozzle and a rough, bubbled surface. A cheap filament dryer or a sealed tub with desiccant keeps a spool print-ready for months — worth doing in most Australian coastal climates.

Snapping supports off? Add a little extra Z distance: PETG fuses to itself readily, which is great for part strength and annoying when you're trying to remove supports.
