About this product
Bambu Lab PETG Translucent 1.75mm Filament
PETG Translucent takes everything that makes PETG a workshop favourite — toughness, impact resistance, low warping and good heat and moisture tolerance — and adds a tinted, light-transmitting finish. Bambu Lab has optimised this formulation for light transmittance, so depending on how you print it, parts can land anywhere from softly tinted translucent to very nearly transparent. It is a practical choice for makers who want a part that both works and looks the part: lamp shades and diffusers, light pipes and lenses, vases and candle holders, tinted enclosures and inspection covers, signage, bottles, display stands and classroom projects where students can see the infill pattern inside the part. Beginners will find it forgiving — no enclosure, no hardened nozzle, and no printer-specific tricks — while more experienced users can tune it hard to chase maximum clarity.
Key Features
Excellent light transmittance Tough & impact resistant Low warping — no enclosure needed ±0.03mm diameter tolerance RFID — AMS auto-recognition Glossy, smooth finish No hardened nozzle required 1kg spool, 1.75mm
Printer compatibility: designed for the Bambu Lab range — A1, A1 mini, P1P, P1S, X1C, X1E and H2 series — including full AMS and AMS lite support, where the embedded RFID tag loads the correct profile automatically. It is also a standard 1.75mm filament, so it runs on any open-material FDM printer (Prusa, Creality, Elegoo, Anycubic and similar) that can reach 230 °C and above at the nozzle.
Recommended Print Settings
- Nozzle temperature: 230–260 °C (run hotter within this range for better clarity and layer bonding)
- Bed temperature: 65–75 °C — always use a glue stick as a release layer
- Print speed: up to 220 mm/s; slow down to 30–50 mm/s on parts where transparency matters
- Part cooling fan: 0–60% — keep cooling low for clearer, stronger parts and raise it only for bridges and overhangs
- Drying: 65 °C for 8 hours in a filament dryer or blast oven if the spool has been open a while
- Storage: sealed container below 20% RH with desiccant

Tips From Our Workshop
Chasing maximum clarity? Transparency is a slicer setting as much as a material property. The trick is to minimise the internal surfaces that scatter light: print slow and hot, drop part cooling close to zero, use a thicker layer height (0.24–0.28mm), and set infill to 100% with a line or concentric pattern so the extrusions fuse into one solid mass rather than a lattice. Thin-walled and smaller parts will always read clearer than thick, chunky ones.
Two things that catch people out. First, PETG is hygroscopic — it pulls moisture from the air, and a damp spool prints with stringing, popping sounds and a cloudy, bubbled surface that ruins the translucent effect. Keep it sealed with desiccant between prints and dry it at 65 °C for 8 hours if it has been sitting out; this matters more in humid Australian summers and in coastal areas. Second, PETG bonds very strongly to smooth PEI build plates — always put down a layer of glue stick first. It works as a release agent, not an adhesive, and will save you from chipping your build plate when you pop the part off.
