Snap a Bambu filament refill into a spool you keep — one empty spool, two temperature ratings, full AMS support. Two versions: Low Temp (≤70°C, ABS, white) or High Temp (≤90°C, ABS+PC alloy, black) Standard Bambu geometry: 200 mm outer ⌀ · 55 mm hub ⌀ · 67 mm wide · 250 g AMS and AMS lite ready — the refill's RFID tags sit in the spool so material and colour are read automatically Tool-free assembly: twist the halves apart, seat the refill, twist back until it clicks Less packaging waste — Bambu's refill system uses at least 20% less plastic per roll than cardboard-and-spool packs 🇦🇺 Ships from Australia

About this product
Bambu Lab Reusable Spool
Every roll of filament you buy on a spool leaves you with a spool. Bambu's refill system flips that around: you buy the spool once, then buy filament as a bare coil with its RFID tags attached. Twist the two halves apart, seat the refill, twist until it clicks, and the AMS reads it exactly as it would a factory roll. No tools, no tape, no adapters.
The spool keeps the standard Bambu geometry — 200 mm outer diameter, 55 mm hub, 67 mm wide — so it feeds the AMS, AMS lite, AMS 2 Pro, AMS HT and external spool holders without modification. Bambu rates the whole refill approach at a minimum 20% reduction in plastic per roll of filament, which adds up quickly in a school lab or a print farm.
AMS & AMS lite compatible RFID pass-through Tool-free assembly Universal fit
How the refill workflow actually goes
- Twist the narrow half of the spool anticlockwise to separate it from the wide half.
- Line the locator block up with the notch on the side of the refill — the one next to the RFID tag — and drop the coil onto the wide half.
- Refit the narrow half and rotate clockwise until you hear it lock.
- Snip the plastic tabs holding the coil, feed the filament through the slot, and apply the refill's sticker to the spool side so you know what's on it.
Refills carry an identical RFID tag on each side, so orientation doesn't matter — load it whichever way your unspooling direction wants.
Which configuration is right for you?
Both versions are the same shape, the same weight and fit the same hardware. The only thing that separates them is how much heat the plastic will take — which in practice means what you can dry on them.
| Low Temp (≤70°C) | High Temp (≤90°C) | |
|---|---|---|
| Material | ABS | ABS+PC alloy |
| Colour | White | Black |
| Heat resistance | ≤70°C | ≤90°C |
| Suits these refills | PLA, PLA Matte, PETG and other low-temp materials | ABS, ASA, PA6-GF, ABS-GF, PAHT-CF, PET-CF, PA6-CF, PC, TPU 95A HF — and PLA/PETG too |
| High-temperature drying | Not rated above 70°C | Yes — stays stable through 80–90°C cycles |
| Bambu model code | RSP001 | RSP002 |
| Pick it if… | You print PLA and PETG and want the cheapest way to keep buying refills | You run engineering materials, or want one spool type that covers everything |
Short answer: if your printer mostly runs PLA and PETG, the Low Temp spool is all you need. If you dry nylon, CF-filled or ABS/ASA refills at 80°C or more, take the High Temp — a softened spool in the dryer is how rolls end up tangled.

Who it's for
- Anyone switching to refills — you need at least one spool per colour you want loaded at a time.
- Multi-colour AMS users — keep four loaded and swap coils rather than whole spools.
- Schools and makerspaces — fewer empty spools in the bin and a lower per-roll cost on consumables.
- Small businesses and print farms — refills take less shelf space and less packaging per kilo.
- Anyone who has cracked or warped a spool and needs a straight replacement that the AMS will still read.
