Bambu Lab Support For ABS
$22.99inc. GST
Bambu Lab Support for ABS is a HIPS-based breakaway support filament that holds your overhangs in place, then peels off ABS and ASA parts by hand and leaves a clean, scar-free surface behind. HIPS support material — runs at ABS temperatures, so no compromise settings in multi-material prints Scar-free interfaces — designed for zero top Z distance and zero interface spacing, so undersides come out crisp Print settings: 240–270 °C nozzle, 80–100 °C bed, under 100 mm/s, part cooling fan on 1.75 mm diameter · 0.5 kg net spool on a heat-resistant PC+ABS spool (200 mm × 67 mm) Supplied in White (66100) — fully compatible with Bambu Lab AMS systems 🇦🇺 Ships from Australia — GST-inclusive pricing and fast local dispatch

About this product
Bambu Lab Support for ABS Filament — 1.75 mm, 0.5 kg
Printing ABS or ASA is the easy part — getting the supports off without gouging the part underneath is where good prints go bad. Bambu Lab Support for ABS is a HIPS (high-impact polystyrene) support filament formulated to bond just enough to ABS and ASA to hold overhangs in place, then release cleanly when you flex it away by hand. Because HIPS extrudes in the same temperature window as ABS, you can pair the two in one multi-material print without settling for compromise settings on either material.
It's a natural fit for anyone running engineering materials in an enclosed machine: functional ABS brackets with deep overhangs, ASA housings and outdoor enclosures, workshop jigs and fixtures, and classroom or prototyping parts where a clean underside matters more than an hour with sandpaper. Hobbyists, schools and small manufacturers all get the same payoff — less post-processing, and a surface finish you don't have to apologise for.
Key features
HIPS breakaway support
Scar-free interface finish
Matched to ABS & ASA temps
AMS compatible
No solvents required
Heat-resistant PC+ABS spool
- Peels, doesn't fight you. Tuned adhesion means supports stay put during the print and snap away afterwards — no pliers, no dissolving bath, no chewed-up overhangs.
- Built for zero-gap interfaces. Because it releases so predictably, you can run a 0 top Z distance and 0 interface spacing for sharper detail on downward-facing surfaces.
- One material window. HIPS prints at 240–270 °C alongside ABS, so the hot end never has to swing between incompatible temperatures mid-print.
- AMS ready. Fully compatible with Bambu Lab AMS systems for automated multi-material printing on X1, P1 and H2 series machines.
- Works with any 1.75 mm printer. An enclosed, heated-chamber machine is strongly recommended — not for the support itself, but because the ABS or ASA it partners with needs the warm chamber to avoid warping.
Recommended print settings
- Nozzle temperature: 240–270 °C (start at 250 °C and match it to the ABS you're pairing it with)
- Bed temperature: 80–100 °C on a Cool Plate, High Temperature Plate or Textured PEI Plate
- Bed preparation: a thin layer of glue stick — this is recommended by Bambu Lab, not optional
- Print speed: under 100 mm/s — supports don't benefit from speed, and slower gives cleaner interfaces
- Part cooling fan: on
- Chamber temperature: 25–45 °C
- Nozzle sizes: 0.4, 0.6 or 0.8 mm — a standard brass nozzle is fine, no hardened nozzle needed
- Retraction: 0.6–1.0 mm at 20–40 mm/s
- Geometry limits: max overhang angle 55°, max bridging length 30 mm

Practical tips
Dry it before you trust it. HIPS picks up moisture from the air, and damp support material is the usual culprit behind stringy, crumbly interfaces that tear instead of peeling. Give it 4 hours at 80 °C in a filament dryer before a long print, and store it sealed with desiccant below 20% RH between jobs — Australian humidity, particularly through a coastal summer, will undo a good spool faster than most people expect.
Make the spool go further. At 0.5 kg you don't want to waste it on bulk structure. In Bambu Studio, set the support interface to Support for ABS and leave the support body in your cheaper base material — you get the clean release where it counts and use a fraction of the spool. And don't skip the glue stick on the plate: it's a specified part of the process here, not just insurance.
