About this product
Bambu Lab Textured PEI Plate — A1 mini (180 mm)
If you print PLA on an A1 mini, this is the plate you want on the bed. The textured PEI surface is a powder-coated finish fused onto spring steel, so adhesion comes from mechanical grip rather than a sticky film — your first layer locks down while the bed is hot, then releases on its own as the plate cools. Pull the plate off the magnetic base, give it a gentle flex, and the part drops free. No scrapers, no gouged surfaces, no chiselling a benchy off at 10 pm.
The trade-off (and for most makers it's a feature) is the finish: every bottom surface comes out with a fine matte stipple instead of a glossy mirror. It hides first-layer imperfections beautifully, feels great in the hand, and takes paint and primer far better than a smooth plate. This is the standard plate that ships with the A1 mini, so it's also the right call as a spare — keep one loaded and printing while you harvest parts from the other.
Why makers keep a second one on the shelf
Double-sided coating
Glue-free PLA & PETG
Matte part finish
Flex-to-release
Magnetic seating
Genuine Bambu Lab
- Zero downtime between prints. Swap plates in seconds and start the next job while the last one cools on the bench. Schools and small production shops run two or three in rotation.
- Both sides are coated. When one face finally wears after heavy use, flip it and keep going.
- Forgiving first layers. The texture gives molten plastic something to key into, so a slightly high nozzle still bonds — useful if you're still learning to dial in Z-offset.
- It's the OEM part. Same thickness and magnetic profile as the plate your A1 mini shipped with, so your existing bed-levelling and Z-offset carry across without re-tuning.
Who it's for
Beginners replacing a scratched or glue-caked original plate. Enthusiasts who want a second plate so the printer never sits idle. Schools and makerspaces where plates take a beating and spares are cheaper than downtime. Small businesses printing batch runs of PLA or PETG parts where a consistent matte underside is part of the product look.
Compatible materials & bed temperatures
The A1 mini's heatbed tops out at 80 °C, which sets the practical material list for this plate. Everything below runs without glue stick:
| Filament | Bed temp | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PLA / PLA-CF | 45–65 °C | Best-in-class pairing; no glue |
| PETG / PETG-CF | 60–80 °C | A thin glue layer is optional as a release agent — PETG can bond hard enough to lift PEI |
| TPU 85A / 90A / 95A | 35–45 °C | Releases cleanly; no glue |
| PVA | 45–65 °C | Support material |
| ABS / ASA / PC / PA | 90–120 °C | The plate handles it, but exceeds the A1 mini's 80 °C bed ceiling — enclosed printers only |
Removal tip: let the bed drop to 35 °C or below before flexing. PEI grips hardest when warm, and cold parts practically fall off.
Care & cleaning
- Wash regularly with dish soap and hot water to strip finger oils and dust — this is the single biggest fix for "my prints stopped sticking".
- Isopropyl alcohol works for a quick wipe between jobs, but a proper wash beats it.
- Never use acetone — it damages the PEI coating permanently.
- Handle by the edges once clean, and dry fully before loading.
