About this product
Bambu Lab Vortek Utility Hotends Bundle — H2C
The Bambu Lab H2C prints with two heads: a fixed hotend on the left, and a right-hand Vortek rack that holds up to six swappable induction hotends. That architecture lets the printer run up to seven filaments without a purge tower — but only if you actually own the hotends to fill it. This bundle is the sensible starting set: two 0.4 mm induction hotends for the rack, plus a 0.2 mm and a 0.6 mm hotend for the left head, so you can cover fine detail, everyday printing and fast draft work without buying four separate items.
All four are genuine Bambu Lab parts, so they are recognised by the printer and by Bambu Studio / Handy without any workarounds.

How the Vortek hotends work
- Induction heating, not a cartridge heater. The toolhead generates a high-frequency magnetic field; eddy currents in the hotend's steel sleeve do the heating. A cold Vortek hotend reaches PLA printing temperature in about 8 seconds, where a conventional resistive hotend takes minutes.
- No electrical contacts. Power and signal cross a contactless interface and the hotend is held magnetically — there are no pogo pins to bend, wear or oxidise during repeated swaps.
- Each hotend remembers its own filament. Filament information is stored on the hotend itself, so the printer knows what is loaded in each rack position.
- Protected. Dual temperature sensors (nozzle and heatsink) back overheat, overvoltage, short-circuit and open-circuit protection.
- Less waste. Because colours live on separate hotends instead of sharing one melt zone, purge for up to seven filaments can be largely eliminated — independent testing has reported waste cut by roughly half against a conventional single-nozzle AMS setup.
What's in the box
- 2 × H2C Induction Hotend, 0.4 mm hardened steel, standard flow (right / Vortek rack) — the workhorse size, and the one you want multiples of for multi-colour and multi-material jobs.
- 1 × Hotend, 0.2 mm stainless steel (left head) — for miniatures, jewellery masters, fine text and small mechanical detail.
- 1 × Hotend, 0.6 mm hardened steel (left head) — for faster, stronger functional parts, large prints, and abrasive carbon-fibre or glass-fibre filled filaments.
Note the two families are not interchangeable: the induction hotends fit the right-hand rack only, and the 0.2 mm / 0.6 mm hotends fit the left (lifting) position only. This kit gives you both.
Who it's for
- New H2C owners who want a second rack hotend plus a detail and a draft nozzle from day one.
- Makers running multi-colour work — two matched 0.4 mm induction hotends let you keep two filaments staged in the rack with no nozzle-size mismatch between them.
- Workshops and small businesses that switch between prototype detail and production throughput and don't want to swap nozzles mid-week.
- Schools and makerspaces keeping spare hotends on the shelf so a clog or a worn nozzle doesn't take the printer offline.
Materials and nozzle guidance
- 0.4 mm hardened steel (induction): PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PC, PA and most filled filaments. Rated to 25 mm³/s with Bambu PLA Basic.
- 0.6 mm hardened steel (left): best choice for carbon-fibre and glass-fibre reinforced filaments — the larger bore and hardened nozzle reduce clogging and abrasion.
- 0.2 mm stainless steel (left): detail work in PLA, PETG and similar. Avoid abrasive CF/GF filled filaments, glitter/sparkle, wood-fill and TPU in this nozzle — they wear or block a 0.2 mm stainless bore.
- TPU 85A is not supported on these hotends; softer flexibles are generally better suited to larger hardened nozzles.
- Silk and translucent PLA are not recommended at 0.6 mm and above.

Hotends are passive printer parts — there is no power supply or plug pack in this kit, and nothing to configure for Australian mains power. They draw everything they need from the H2C.
