Bambu Lab Dual Extruder Idlers and Filament Sensor — H2D / H2C
The dual extruder idlers and filament sensor is the assembly sitting opposite the drive gears in your H2D or H2C toolhead. It presses the filament against the drive gear so it's gripped and fed consistently, routes both filament paths so the printer can switch between them for multi-colour and multi-material jobs, and carries the Hall-effect sensors that tell the printer whether filament is actually present in each path.
It's a wear and impact part. If you've had a stubborn clog at the idler assembly, a cracked pneumatic PTFE connector, a snapped idler arm after a jam, or a filament-detection fault that follows one side of the extruder, this is the module Bambu's own service guide has you swap. Buying the genuine Bambu Lab part (OEM number FAE024) means the Hall sensor FPC connectors, screw holes and PTFE couplers all line up the first time.

- Keeps extrusion consistent. The idlers work together with the drive gear to grip and feed filament — worn or cracked idlers show up as skipped steps, under-extrusion and failed loads.
- Built for dual extrusion. The assembly switches between filament paths so the H2D / H2C can run multi-colour and multi-material prints.
- Filament presence detection. Hall-effect sensors on both sides connect to the toolhead board via FPC ribbons, feeding the printer's run-out and load detection.
- Straightforward replacement. Bambu's service procedure uses an H2.0 and H1.5 Allen key plus tweezers: remove the left cutter, undo the BT2x5 Hall sensor FPC screws on both sides, release the two PTFE tubes at the pneumatic connectors, then fit the new assembly and tighten. Always power the printer off and unplug it first.
