About this product
Bambu Lab Engineering Plate — H2D / H2S (350 × 320 mm)
When a print has to be strong rather than pretty, the build surface stops being an afterthought. The Bambu Lab Engineering Plate (FAP038) is the high-temperature plate in the H2-series line-up: a polyester powder coating over 0.5 mm magnetic manganese spring steel, rated to a 120 °C surface temperature so it can sit under a 100 °C bed for a twelve-hour ABS run without the coating giving up. It covers the full 350 × 320 mm print area of the H2D, H2D Pro and H2S, and it leaves a smooth, even bottom layer on parts that need to fit, bolt up or take load.
350 × 320 mm 120 °C rated ABS · ASA · PC · PA Flexible magnetic steel Genuine FAP038
What it is good at
- High-temperature engineering materials. ABS, ASA, PC, PC-CF, PA, PA-CF and PAHT-CF all want a bed between 90 °C and 110 °C. This plate is built for exactly that window.
- Big, flat, warp-prone parts. The powder-coated surface plus a coat of glue gives the kind of first-layer bite that keeps a 300 mm bracket's corners on the bed instead of curling.
- A smooth, consistent underside. Parts come off with a clean, matte-smooth bottom face rather than a textured pattern — useful for mating surfaces, jigs and anything that gets painted or bonded.
- Everyday materials too. PLA, PETG, TPU and PVA all run on it happily, so it is not a single-purpose plate sitting in a drawer.
The one rule to remember: the Engineering Plate needs glue for every filament — glue stick or liquid glue, applied before the print. That is different from a Textured PEI or Cool Plate SuperTack, where PLA and PETG stick bare. The glue is what protects the coating and gives the adhesion; skipping it is the number one cause of failed first layers on this plate.
Which configuration is right for you?
Both options ship the identical plate. The only difference is whether the adhesives come with it.

|---|---|---|
| Engineering Plate (FAP038) | ✔ 1 × | ✔ 1 × |
| Bambu Liquid Glue (LGL001, 60 mL) | — | ✔ Included |
| Bambu Glue Stick (SGL001, 21 g) | — | ✔ Included |
| Ready to print out of the box | Only if you already own glue | Yes |
| Value | Lowest entry cost | Cheaper than the three items bought separately |
| Pick it if… | You are adding a spare or replacement plate and your glue drawer is already stocked | This is your first Engineering Plate, or you are setting up a classroom / workshop printer from scratch |
Short version: if you are not certain you have glue on the bench, take the + Glues option. The plate will not perform without it, and the bundle costs less than adding both adhesives to your cart later.

Bambu Studio and Orca already carry sensible defaults once you select the Engineering Plate in the plate picker — the table above is there for custom profiles and third-party filaments.
Who it is for
- Makers and engineers printing functional ABS, ASA, PC or nylon parts that have to survive heat, sunlight or load.
- Small businesses running production batches where a failed first layer on a long print is expensive.
- Schools and workshops that want a forgiving, washable surface and a second plate so one printer is never waiting on a cooldown.
- Anyone upgrading from a single plate — swapping plates between material families beats fighting one surface to do everything.
Getting the best out of it
- Apply a thin, even coat of glue across the print area before each job — a thick blob causes more problems than it solves.
- Let the plate cool before flexing it. Parts release far more easily, and cold-popping saves your coating.
- Wash with warm water and dish soap when the glue builds up or adhesion drops off. Never use acetone or other organic solvents — they attack the coating.
- Handle by the edges. Fingerprints are oil, and oil is the enemy of a first layer.
- Keep it flat when stored. A spring-steel sheet left leaning against a bench will eventually take a set.
