About this product
Bambu Lab Filament Buffer — H2D / H2C
Your H2D or H2C already has a filament buffer — it lives in the top cover, and it is the quiet part that makes multi-colour printing behave. As Bambu Lab puts it, the buffer “is used to regulate the filament movement, ensuring an appropriate and stable supply of filament to the hotend.” Inside it are two spring-loaded sliders that take up slack and absorb the tug between the AMS and the toolhead, so the extruder is never fighting the feed.
When that assembly is damaged, sticking or worn, you see it as AMS feeding faults, failed filament loads and retraction problems that no amount of slicer tuning will fix. This is the genuine Bambu Lab replacement — part number SA009 — supplied with the screws you need to fit it.

Please read before you buy — this is a spare, not an upgrade
This is the most common mix-up on the H2 series, and it is worth 30 seconds of your time:
- The H2 series has its buffer built in. Unlike the X1 and P1 printers — where the filament buffer is an external AMS accessory you add on — the H2D and H2C ship with the buffer already fitted in the top cover. Buy this part to replace a faulty one, not to add a capability your printer is missing.
- Running two or more AMS units? You don't need this, and you don't need an AMS Hub either. The H2 series buffers each nozzle input already. To feed several AMS units into one input you need an N-in-1 PTFE splitter (a 4-in-1 adapter for three or more AMS) — a separate accessory.
- One unit does both nozzles. Even though the H2D and H2C buffer each nozzle, SA009 is a single assembly containing both sliders and both springs. You need one, not two.
- H2S owners: this is not your part. The H2S takes SA010. Check your model before ordering.
- The buffer connection board is a separate part. It sits alongside the buffer in the top cover and is not included in this box — order it separately if your fault is traced to the board.
Who it's for
- Owners chasing an AMS fault — feeding errors or load failures where inspection shows a cracked, jammed or sticking buffer slider.
- Print farms and small businesses keeping a shelf spare so a top-cover fault costs an hour, not a week.
- Schools and makerspaces where a shared H2D takes more handling than a home machine, and a knocked top cover is a matter of when, not if.
- Enthusiasts doing their own maintenance who would rather fit a genuine part than ship the printer anywhere.
Fitting it
Bambu Lab's guide (Replace H2D / H2C Filament Buffer and Cable) runs roughly as follows — always power the printer off and unplug it from the wall first:
- Loosen the single BT2.6x8 screw with an H2.0 Allen key and lift off the AP board cover near the front door.
- If an AMS is connected, disconnect the 6-pin cable.
- Push the buffer slider across to the far right, then press the pneumatic connector and release the two PTFE tubes running to the toolhead, one at a time.
- Remove the 4 BT3x8 fixing screws with the H2.0 Allen key and lift the buffer out.
- Fit the new buffer with the 4 supplied BT3x8 screws and reverse the steps.
Follow the official wiki procedure for your exact model — it has the photographs that make the PTFE and cable routing obvious. The H2.0 Allen key is not included.
