About this product
Bambu Lab Filament Buffer — H2S
Every H2 Series printer has a filament buffer built into its top cover, and on the single-nozzle H2S there is exactly one of them. It is a small spring-loaded slider assembly that sits in the filament path between the AMS and the toolhead: as filament is pulled and pushed, the slider moves against its spring and that displacement is fed back to the printer and AMS so feed tension stays inside the right window. In Bambu Lab's own words, "the Filament Buffer is used to regulate the filament movement, ensuring an appropriate and stable supply of filament to the hotend."
It is a quiet, hard-working part — and a wearing one. If your H2S has started throwing filament-feed or AMS errors, is grinding or snapping filament at the buffer, or the buffer housing is visibly cracked or the slider no longer travels freely, this is the assembly you replace. This is the genuine Bambu Lab service part, SA010, supplied with the four screws needed to mount it.
Read this before you buy — it is a replacement, not an upgrade
On X1 and P1 printers the filament buffer is an external AMS accessory you bolt on. On the H2 Series it is already inside the printer, fitted at the factory in the top cover. You cannot add a second one to run more AMS units, and you do not need one to get started — buy this part only to replace a buffer that has failed or been damaged. (To run multiple AMS units on an H2, you need an N-in-1 PTFE splitter, not a buffer and not an AMS Hub.)
Check your model. This is the H2S part (SA010), which also fits the H2S Laser. The dual-nozzle H2D and H2C use a different, larger assembly (SA009) — they are not interchangeable.
Key features
Genuine Bambu Lab SA010 H2S & H2S Laser Metal & plastic build Mounting screws included Drop-in factory fit DIY-friendly repair
- Steady feed under high flow. The H2S pushes serious volumetric throughput; the buffer absorbs the push-pull of AMS feeding so the extruder sees consistent tension instead of surges and slack.
- Keeps AMS feedback honest. Buffer displacement is part of how the printer and AMS coordinate loading, unloading and runout — a sticking or damaged buffer shows up as feed faults long before anything looks obviously broken.
- Built from metal and plastic. The wear surfaces in the filament path are metal rather than all-plastic, which matters if you run abrasive carbon- or glass-filled materials.
- Exact factory fit. Same mounting pattern, same connector, same position in the top cover — no shims, adapters or printed brackets.
- Everything you need to mount it. Four BT3-8 screws are in the box, so you are not scavenging hardware mid-repair.
Who it's for
- H2S owners with a feed fault — filament grinding, snapping at the buffer, or AMS errors that inspection traces back to a damaged buffer.
- Print farms and small businesses keeping a critical spare on the shelf so a dead buffer costs an hour, not a week.
- Schools and makerspaces where shared machines take knocks and consumable-path parts wear faster than at home.
- Makers who service their own gear — the swap is a documented, low-risk job with one Allen key.
What's in the box
- 1 × Bambu Lab Filament Buffer (SA010), H2S / H2S Laser
- 4 × BT3-8 mounting screws
Not included: the H2.0 Allen key needed for the job (it is in the toolkit supplied with your printer), and the separate Filament Buffer Connection Board, which is its own Bambu Lab part.
Fitting it — the short version
- Power off and unplug the printer. Never work on the electronics or toolhead wiring live.
- With the H2.0 Allen key, remove the single BT2.6×8 screw and lift off the AP board cover on the side nearest the front door.
- If an AMS is connected, disconnect the 6-pin cable.
- Slide the buffer slider fully to one end, then press each pneumatic connector and release the PTFE tubes running to the toolhead — one at a time.
- Remove the 4 × BT3×8 screws holding the buffer, fit the new assembly with the supplied screws, and reverse the steps.
