About this product
Bambu Lab Hotend Heating Assembly — H2D
The hotend heating assembly is the part of your H2D toolhead that actually makes the heat. Bambu Lab put it plainly: it is "designed to heat the hotend and enable quick hotend replacement. The heating assembly secures the hotend with a clamping mechanism, allowing easy removal for maintenance or replacement." The hotend itself clips into this unit — the assembly stays bolted to the toolhead, and the clamp is what lets you change a nozzle in a couple of minutes rather than rebuilding the head.
Because it carries the heat, it is also the part that eventually wears out. Typical reasons to replace one: temperature errors that keep appearing after you have already swapped the hotend, a side that heats slowly or never reaches target, a heating base damaged by a nozzle strike or a stubborn filament jam, or a toolhead cable that has been pinched or chafed. Keeping a spare on the shelf is cheap insurance if the H2D is earning its keep.
Genuine Bambu Lab part
Quick-release hotend clamp
Metal + ceramic
350 °C hotend ceiling
Screws included
The H2D has two of these — and they are not interchangeable
The H2D is a dual-nozzle machine, so the toolhead carries two separate heating assemblies: one for the left nozzle and one for the right. Bambu Lab are explicit that a damaged assembly must be replaced with the corresponding side — the left part will not do the right job, and vice versa. They also differ physically: the left unit ships with a baffle plate (the wind blocker) and its own small fasteners, while the right is a simpler three-screw fit.
Before you order, check which side is faulty. Your printer will usually name the nozzle in the error, and the toolhead is easy to inspect once the machine is off and cool. Buying the wrong side means a part you cannot fit.
Which configuration is right for you?
| Right | Left | |
|---|---|---|
| Bambu Lab part | FAH029 | FAH028 |
| Fits | Right nozzle position only | Left nozzle position only |
| Baffle plate (wind blocker) | Not used on this side | Included |
| Fasteners supplied | M3-10 Screw ×3 | M2.5-7 Screw ×4 + M1.6-4 Screw ×2 |
| Fitting effort | Simpler — three mounting screws | A little more involved — baffle and cable sheet to refit |
| Choose it when | The right nozzle is throwing heating or temperature faults, or its heating base is damaged | The left nozzle is throwing heating or temperature faults, or its heating base or wind blocker is damaged |
Running a print farm or a school lab? Many workshops keep one of each on the shelf, since a single failed assembly otherwise takes a dual-nozzle machine out of service.

What's in the box — and what isn't
Each assembly ships with the mounting hardware for its own side, so there is nothing extra to source from the hardware shop. What does not come in the box catches people out, so it's worth being clear:
- No hotend or nozzle. The hotend is the part that clips into this clamp and it is sold separately — if yours is fine, you only need the heating assembly.
- No hotend cooling fan. Bambu Lab's maintenance guide covers the assembly and the fan on the same page, which is why buyers often expect both; the fan is its own part.
- No Allen key. You need an H2.0, which is in the toolkit that shipped with the printer.
Fitting it safely
Power the printer off and disconnect the supply before touching the toolhead or its cabling, and let the hotend cool right down first. When you refit, route the assembly cable out from the side of the heating base and make sure it isn't pinched underneath before you tighten the mounting screws — a trapped cable is the most common cause of a repeat failure. If you'd rather follow pictures, Bambu Lab publish a step-by-step guide on their wiki for the H2 series.
Who it's for
H2D owners dealing with a heating or temperature fault on one nozzle; makers who've had a crash or a bad jam damage the heating base; and schools, workshops and small production shops that keep critical spares on hand so a dual-nozzle machine never sits idle waiting on a part from overseas. It's a straightforward repair — if you've changed a hotend before, you can do this.
Buying from NE3D Printing
A genuine Bambu Lab spare, stocked and dispatched from Australia with tracked delivery nationwide — no overseas wait, no customs surprises. All prices include GST and a tax invoice comes with every order. This part draws power from your printer's own toolhead wiring, so there's no separate power supply or AU plug adapter to think about. Not sure whether you need the left or the right? Message us before you order — we'd rather help you get it right the first time.
