Bambu Lab PLA Wood is a real wood-fibre filled PLA that prints with a genuine matte timber grain straight off the plate — no painting, no post-processing.
Bambu Lab PLA Wood blends genuine wood fibre into a PLA base, so your prints come off the build plate with a soft matte timber grain rather than the usual plastic sheen. Parts can be sanded, stained and finished much like real wood, and each layer catches the light slightly differently — giving flat surfaces a natural, tactile depth. It handles like standard PLA on the printer, which makes it an easy first step into composite filaments for hobbyists, makers, schools and small businesses.
It’s a strong pick for decorative and display work: coasters, planters and vases, picture and mirror frames, desk organisers, lamp shades and diffusers, tabletop terrain and miniatures, signage and lettering, model railway and architectural scenery, and prototype parts that need to read as timber without the cost of machining one.

Dry it before you print. PLA Wood absorbs moisture faster than standard PLA, and damp filament is the single most common cause of stringing, rough surfaces and inconsistent colour between spools. It ships vacuum-sealed with desiccant — dry it at 55°C for 8 hours before first use if the bag has been open a while, and store it sealed with desiccant between jobs. Australian coastal humidity is genuinely hard on this material, so a sealed container is worth the effort.
Use temperature to control the grain. Printing hotter darkens the wood tone and deepens the grain contrast; printing cooler keeps it lighter and more even. A small test print across 200°C, 220°C and 240°C will show you the range before you commit to a large piece. For finishing, a light sand with 240-grit followed by a wipe of danish oil or wood stain brings the timber character out beautifully — and unlike standard PLA, it actually takes the stain.
