About this product
Bambu Lab Silicone Sock for Hotend — H2D
The silicone sock is the small black cover that sits over your H2D's heater block, and it does more work than its size suggests. Bambu Lab describes its job as maintaining nozzle temperature stability and isolating impurities, preventing the filament from soiling the nozzle and affecting print quality. In practice that means steadier hotend temperatures while the part-cooling fans are blasting, and no slow build-up of charred plastic welding itself to the heater block.
It is also a genuine consumable. The sock lives against a 200 °C-plus block, gets brushed by the nozzle wiper on every purge, and eventually hardens, splits or stops gripping. This is the official Bambu Lab replacement — part number FAH022, supplied as a pack of three, so you have spares on the shelf before you need them rather than a stalled printer and a week of waiting.
Key features
Genuine Bambu Lab FAH022 3-pack Heat-resistant silicone Tool-free fitting Tear resistant H2D & H2D Laser
- Steadier nozzle temperatures. Insulates the heater block from part-cooling airflow, so the hotend holds its setpoint instead of chasing it mid-print.
- Keeps the block clean. Stops oozed filament adhering to the heater block and turning into the brown crust that eventually drops onto a print.
- Precision cutouts. Moulded to clear the nozzle tip and wiring, so it seats flush with no slanting — important on the H2D, where a badly fitted sock can rub against moving parts.
- Three in the pack. One to fit now, two in the drawer. Socks are cheap insurance against a mid-job temperature fault.
When should you replace yours?
Bambu Lab's H2 maintenance documentation lists six signs that the sock is done. If you can tick any one of them, swap it:
- Cracks or damage — heat escapes through the split and printing temperatures become unstable.
- Looseness or detachment — it no longer grips the block properly.
- Deformation from prolonged high temperatures — stretched or misshapen, so it can't fully cover the hotend.
- Frequent filament build-up on the heating block — a sign the sock is no longer sealing.
- Discolouration or brittleness — the silicone is nearing the end of its life.
- Friction with moving parts (for example the nozzle wiper) — wear here is common on the H2 series.
Fitting it — no tools needed
Following Bambu Lab's H2 procedure:
- Power the printer off and disconnect it from the wall before you start, and let the hotend cool to a safe temperature.
- Open the Toolhead Front Cover Assembly to expose the hotend.
- Hold both sides of the old silicone sock and pull it diagonally downward with some force — they grip tightly by design.
- Fit the new sock onto the hotend from the bottom upward until it is fully seated.
- Check that it sits square — properly aligned, no slanting, no loose edges — then close the cover.
No Allen key, no screws, no re-calibration. It's a two-minute job and a sensible one to do alongside a nozzle change or a routine maintenance session.
Who it's for
Any H2D owner who runs the machine regularly — makers printing abrasive or high-temperature materials, small businesses where a stalled printer costs real money, and schools or workshops that need a consumables shelf rather than an emergency order. If your H2D is a production machine, keeping a pack of socks on hand belongs in the same box as spare nozzles and a wiper.
What's in the box
- 3 × Bambu Lab Hotend Silicone Socks (black, H2 series, part FAH022)
Hotend, nozzle and toolhead are not included — this listing is the silicone sock only.
Compatibility — read this before you order
This is the H2 series sock, listed by Bambu Lab for the H2D and H2D Laser (and also catalogued for the H2S / H2S Laser). It is a different physical part from the socks used on other Bambu machines, and Bambu Lab's own FAQ confirms the hotend socks are not cross-compatible between families:
- P2S and X2D use part FAH048 — a different sock.
- X1 series, P1P, P1S and A1 series use their own socks again.
Owners who have forced an H2-series sock onto a P2S report a loose fit and a printer warning about improper sock fitting. Match the sock to the machine.
