A precision optical calibration plate that dials your Bambu Lab H2-series printer back to sub-50µm XY motion accuracy in about five minutes — so parts fit the way the CAD says they should. Below 50µm motion accuracy — compensates for mechanical tolerance, belt aging and long-term wear 10⁴ encode-marker matrix read at 5µm optical resolution by the toolhead camera 5-minute calibration in Bambu Studio holds accuracy for weeks — re-run fortnightly for tight-tolerance work Accuracy is distance-independent — a 20 mm feature and a 300 mm span are held to the same tolerance Fits Bambu Lab H2D, H2S and H2C — unlocks Auto Hole-Contour Compensation in Bambu Studio A$165.10 inc GST — 🇦🇺 Ships from Australia

About this product
Bambu Lab Vision Encoder (H2 Series)
Every motion system drifts. Belts stretch a little, tolerances stack up, and six months of printing quietly shifts your XY geometry — usually just enough that press-fit pins bind, bearing pockets go tight, and multi-part assemblies stop snapping together the way they did on day one. The Bambu Lab Vision Encoder is the tool that measures that drift and corrects it.
It's a machined calibration plate carrying a matrix of 10⁴ encode markers. You drop it on a cool build plate, start Motion Accuracy Calibration in Bambu Studio, and the toolhead camera scans the marker grid at 5µm optical resolution. The printer builds a correction map from what it sees and applies it to every subsequent print, bringing motion accuracy to below 50µm. The whole routine takes about five minutes and holds for weeks.
Why it matters
- Assemblies that actually assemble. Paired with Bambu Studio's Auto Hole-Contour Compensation, the H2 series can hit injection-moulded-level fit on mating parts — no more test-printing three versions of the same bracket to find the hole size that works.
- Distance-independent accuracy. Most dimensional error scales with print size. The Vision Encoder's correction doesn't — a small clip and a full-bed jig are held to the same tolerance.
- It tracks wear over time. This isn't a one-off factory tune. Re-run it periodically and the printer re-learns its current mechanical state, so a two-year-old machine prints like a new one.
- Repeatable across machines. Running a small print farm or a school lab? Calibrating every H2 in the room to the same standard means a part sliced once prints identically on any of them.

Who it's for
Engineers and product designers printing functional prototypes where a 0.15 mm error is the difference between a working fit and a bin. Small manufacturers producing end-use parts, jigs and fixtures that have to match a drawing. Print farms and schools that need every machine on the floor producing interchangeable parts. If you're printing decorative models, you probably don't need this — if you're printing things that bolt to other things, you do.
How to use it
- Peel the transparent protective film off the plate surface before first use.
- Make sure the heatbed is at room temperature — never place the Vision Encoder on a heated bed.
- Wipe the toolhead camera lens and check the marker grid is clean and unobstructed.
- Sit the Vision Encoder on the build plate and run Motion Accuracy Calibration from Bambu Studio.
- When the ~5-minute routine finishes, remove the plate and store it flat. It is a calibration tool only — never print on it.
Recalibration: Bambu Lab suggests re-running the routine roughly every two weeks for high-precision work. Calibration accuracy gradually drifts with usage intensity and ambient conditions, so heavy-duty machines benefit from more frequent runs than occasional ones.
What's in the box
- 1 × Bambu Lab Vision Encoder calibration plate (FAP031, H2 Series)
- Protective surface film fitted (remove before use)
No cables, power supply or driver install — the plate is entirely passive and is read by the printer's existing toolhead camera.
Compatibility
This is the H2 Series Vision Encoder, made for the Bambu Lab H2D, H2S and H2C. The X2D uses a different, dedicated Vision Encoder (part FAP037) — it is not interchangeable with this one. Motion Accuracy Calibration runs from Bambu Studio; keep both Studio and your printer firmware up to date so the calibration option appears.
