About this product
Bambu Lab Cable Chain Assembly — X1 / P1 Series
The cable chain is the unglamorous part that keeps everything else alive. It carries the toolhead cable and the PTFE feeding tube across the X-axis, and in Bambu Lab's own words it "confines the trajectory of the toolhead cable and feeding tube safely to the horizontal plane during printing", protecting both "from being damaged during repetitive bending as a result of motion". After a few thousand hours of back-and-forth, chains go loose, links crack, and AP board covers get knocked about — and a flapping toolhead cable is a far more expensive problem than the chain that was meant to hold it.
This is the genuine Bambu Lab assembly (OEM part FAZ005), the same one fitted at the factory, and it arrives as a complete kit rather than a bare chain — so if your AP board cover is the damaged piece, this is still the right purchase.
Who it's for
- X1C, X1E and P1S owners replacing a chain that has gone loose, noisy or cracked — a direct like-for-like swap.
- Anyone with a damaged AP board cover — the replacement cover is included in this kit.
- P1P owners retrofitting a cable chain — please read the fitting notes below first; the P1P is a two-part job.
- Print farms, schools and workshops keeping a consumable-wear spare on the shelf for machines that run daily.

Key features
- Protects the two most awkward parts to replace. The toolhead cable and the PTFE feeding tube both live inside this chain. Keeping their movement on one plane is what stops the cable work-hardening and the tube kinking.
- One part number for both printer families. Unlike some Bambu Lab toolhead spares, which are split into separate X1 and P1 versions with different connectors, FAZ005 is a single assembly listed for the X1 Series and P1 Series alike.
- Includes the AP board cover. Bambu Lab's own maintenance guide notes the chain "is often loose or damaged, or the AP board cover may be damaged" — the cover, grommet, bracket and pneumatic connector all ship in the box so you aren't chasing small parts mid-repair.
- Built from plastic and silicone rubber in black, to match the factory look of your X1 or P1.
- Routine, tool-light maintenance. Power the machine off, lift the glass cover plate, and the chain comes away; only the optional AP board cover removal needs a single screw and an H1.5 Allen key.
What's in the box
- 1 × Cable chain
- 1 × AP board cover
- 1 × Cable bracket
- 1 × PTFE rubber grommet
- 1 × PTFE pneumatic connector with collet clip
No toolhead cable, PTFE tube or Allen key is included — those are separate items.
Fitting it — and the one thing P1P owners must know
Always power the printer off and unplug it before you start. On an X1 Series machine the job runs like this:
- Remove the glass cover plate and disconnect the chain from the AP board cover (or remove the cover itself with its single H1.5 Allen screw).
- Loosen the USB cable, pull out the cable bracket and lift away the old chain.
- Mount the new cable bracket and press the USB cable into the new chain.
- Reconnect the chain to the AP board cover, aligning the cover's installation notch, then buckle the PTFE tube back in.
- Refit the screw if you removed the cover, and put the glass cover plate back.
P1P retrofit warning (from Bambu Lab's wiki): Bambu Lab does not recommend simply dropping a cable chain onto a P1P. If you want to fit one, you may also need to buy a P1 Series Toolhead Cable at the same time, and you should swap the 530 mm PTFE tube for a 550 mm tube — otherwise the shorter tube can cause step loss. X1C, X1E and P1S machines that already run a cable chain are a straight replacement with no extra parts.
Handy tip: if the new chain rubs against the X-axis carbon rods, adjust the length of the USB cable and tuck the excess inside the cable chain cover.
