About this product
Bambu Lab Textured PEI Plate — 256 mm
If you only ever buy one spare build plate for your Bambu Lab printer, make it this one. The Textured PEI Plate is the all-rounder in the Bambu plate range: a 0.5 mm flexible spring-steel sheet powder-coated with textured PEI on both sides, so prints lock down while the bed is hot and pop off with a gentle flex once it cools. No glue stick, no hairspray, no painter's tape.
The texture does double duty. It gives PLA, PETG, ABS and ASA a mechanical key to grab onto, and it stamps a soft matte finish into the bottom of every print — the look that makes functional parts, enclosures and tool holders read as finished rather than 3D printed. It also quietly hides the small first-layer imperfections and elephant-foot squish that a glossy plate puts on display.
Because it's coated on both faces, you effectively get two plates. When one side has had a hard life, flip it over and carry on.
256 × 256 mm print area Double-sided coating Up to 180 °C Glue-free PLA & PETG Magnetic — no clips
Key features
- Textured PEI on both faces. 0.075 mm of powder-coated PEI per side over a 0.5 mm stainless spring-steel core. Twice the surface life of a single-sided plate.
- Wide material range. Rated to 180 °C surface temperature, so it handles ABS, ASA, PC and nylon bed temps as comfortably as it handles PLA.
- Strong hot grip, easy cold release. Leave the plate to drop below about 40 °C and most parts let go with a single flex — no scrapers, no chisels, no gouged coating.
- Matte, consistent bottom surface. Great for enclosures, brackets, jigs, cosplay parts and anything where the underside is visible.
- Drops straight onto the magnetic bed. Align it to the back-left corner of the heatbed and you're printing — no hardware, no firmware changes.
- A genuine consumable. Textured PEI wears, and a fresh plate is the quickest fix for creeping adhesion problems on an otherwise healthy printer.
Who it's for
Anyone running a 256 mm Bambu Lab machine. Hobbyists wanting a spare so a long print doesn't block the printer for days. Small businesses and print farms who treat plates as wear items and rotate them. Schools and makerspaces where a dozen different people use the same printer and the surface takes a beating. And anyone who has been fighting first-layer adhesion on a plate that's two years old and can't remember the last time it was properly degreased.
Compatible printers
Fits every Bambu Lab printer with a 256 × 256 mm bed: A1, P1P, P1S, P2S, X1, X1 Carbon, X1E and X2D.
Not for the A1 mini — that machine takes the 180 × 180 mm plate. Also not for H2D, H2S or H2C, which use larger plates again. If you're unsure which size your printer takes, ask us before you order and we'll check it for you.
Recommended heatbed temperatures
| Filament | Bed temperature | Glue stick? |
|---|---|---|
| PLA, PLA-CF, PLA-GF | 45–65 °C | No |
| PETG, PETG-CF, PET-CF | 60–80 °C | No |
| ABS, ASA | 90–100 °C | No |
| TPU 85A / 90A | 35–45 °C | Yes — protects the coating |
| PC, PC-CF | 90–110 °C | Yes |
| PA, PA-CF, PA-GF | 100–120 °C | Yes |
High-adhesion materials such as PC and nylon can bond hard enough to tear PEI off the steel. A thin layer of glue stick acts as a release agent and is cheap insurance.
Getting the best out of it
- Set the plate type in Bambu Studio to Textured PEI Plate so the correct bed temperature and first-layer profile are applied.
- Turn off LIDAR flow-rate calibration. Automatic flow calibration isn't supported on textured PEI — the surface scatters the laser. Run it on a smooth plate instead, or calibrate manually.
- Degrease, don't scrub. Wash with hot water and a drop of dish soap, then dry with a lint-free cloth. Isopropyl alcohol is fine for spot cleaning between prints, but it won't shift finger oils the way soap does.
- Handle by the edges. Skin oil is the single most common cause of "my plate stopped working".
- Let it cool. Prying parts off a hot plate is how coatings get damaged.
