Bambu Lab Filament Buffer — P2S
$53.99inc. GST
The genuine Bambu Lab part (SA011) that bolts to the back of your P2S and lets it talk to an AMS — without it, a standalone P2S can't run AMS, AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT at all. 🔌 Required for AMS on a standalone P2S — the P2S Combo already includes one 🎞️ Smooths filament tension between the AMS and the extruder for cleaner multi-colour feeding ✅ Works with AMS, AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT (not AMS Lite) — P2S / P2 Series only 🧰 In the box: buffer ×1 + 2× ST3×24×7 screws — roughly a five-minute install, no printer teardown ⚡ Powered by the printer through the connector already waiting behind the rear rubber cover — no AU plug or adapter needed 🇦🇺 Ships from Australia

About this product
Bambu Lab Filament Buffer — P2S (SA011)
It's a small grey box, and it's the difference between a P2S that prints one colour and a P2S that runs a full AMS stack. The filament buffer mounts on the back of the printer, sits in the filament path between your AMS and the toolhead, and absorbs the tension changes that happen every time the AMS pulls, pushes or swaps a spool. Bambu's own description is refreshingly plain: it "reduce[s] tension fluctuations during the feeding process and ensure[s] smooth filament feeding."
The part most standalone P2S owners discover they're missing. If you bought the P2S Combo, a buffer came in the box and you don't need this. If you bought the printer on its own and later added an AMS, AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT, this is the piece that connects them — an AMS HT won't even power up on a P2S until it's wired through the buffer. It is also P2S-specific: the X1/P1 Series buffer (SA003) and the H2 / X2D buffers are different parts and will not fit.

What it actually does
- Keeps feed tension in range. The AMS and the extruder don't always pull at the same rate. The buffer takes up that slack so filament isn't dragged tight or left slack mid-print.
- Carries the AMS connection. A 4-pin input (3 mm pitch) runs to the printer's internal connector; 6-pin ports carry the Bambu Bus link out to your AMS units.
- Protects the feed path. Less tension fluctuation means less strain on the extruder gears and fewer feed-related failures on long multi-colour jobs.
- Keeps the back of the printer tidy. It slides into a moulded groove on the rear panel — one PTFE tube in from the AMS, one longer tube on to the printer.
Who it's for
Anyone pairing a standalone P2S with their first AMS — including makers migrating an existing AMS or AMS 2 Pro across from a P1S or X1C, who'll find the old buffer doesn't fit the new printer. It's also the right replacement part if your current buffer is cracked, rattling, or has been flagged by Bambu support as the cause of AMS feed errors. Schools and small print farms: worth keeping a spare on the shelf, since it's a consumable-adjacent part sitting in the filament path.
What's in the box
- 1 × Filament Buffer — P2S (SA011)
- 2 × ST3×24×7 self-tapping screws
Not included: the 6-pin Bambu Bus cable (CAB035) and PTFE tubing. An AMS 2 Pro or AMS HT normally ships with its own 6-pin cable — if you're connecting a second unit, or your original cable has gone walkabout, add a CAB035 to your order.
Fitting it
Power the printer down, pop off the rubber cover on the back panel, and you'll find the connector already tucked inside. Plug in the buffer's cable, slide the body into the mounting groove and fix it with the two supplied screws. Run one PTFE tube from the AMS into the buffer and the longer tube from the buffer into the printer. Bambu's wiki has the step-by-step replacement guide with photos. Tip: after the first install, make sure printer and AMS firmware are both up to date before your first multi-colour print — mismatched firmware is a common cause of colour-recognition grief that gets blamed on hardware.
Compatibility — read this before you order
- Printer: Bambu Lab P2S (P2 Series) only. Not for X1/P1 Series (that's SA003), H2 Series or X2D.
- AMS units: AMS, AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT. Not AMS Lite (A1 Series).
- Already own a P2S Combo? A buffer is included with the Combo — you only need this one as a spare or replacement.
- Running three or more AMS units? You'll need the 4-in-1 PTFE Adapter in addition to this buffer. The P2S supports up to 8 units in total (4 × AMS 2 Pro + 4 × AMS HT).
- On the two 6-pin ports: Bambu's P2S FAQ states one of the two is a spare port for power and communication expansion rather than a second AMS, and that AMS units should be daisy-chained to each other. Plan multi-AMS setups that way and you'll be on the supported path.
