About this product
Bambu Lab Filament Sensor — A1 Series
If your A1 or A1 mini has started throwing filament run-out errors with a full spool loaded, stalling on colour changes, or missing a genuine jam entirely, the filament sensor is the usual suspect. This is the genuine Bambu Lab replacement — part number FAE010 — the small PCBA module that sits in the filament path and reports what's actually moving through it.
It's worth knowing this part does three jobs, not one. It detects filament feeding status so a run-out doesn't quietly turn into hours of printing air. It recognises filament entering and leaving the path and passes that to the AMS Lite, which is how multi-colour switching lands accurately instead of mid-layer. And it detects jamming, reporting it to the printer straight away. That's why a failing sensor can show up as three completely different-looking faults.
Key features
Genuine part FAE010 Run-out detection AMS Lite filament tracking Jam detection Screws included A1 & A1 mini
- Catches failures early. Monitors filament feeding status so a snapped strand or empty spool stops the print instead of wasting the rest of the job.
- Makes multi-colour work. Detects filament entry and exit and reports it to the AMS Lite, so four-colour prints switch cleanly.
- Spots jams, not just run-outs. A blocked or slipping feed path is reported to the printer immediately.
- Straightforward swap. It's a plug-in module held by two screws — no soldering, no firmware fiddling, and no separate power supply or adapter.
- Sensible spare to keep on hand. Schools, makerspaces and print farms running A1s unattended tend to stock one, because this is the part that fails loudly and stops production.
What's in the box
- 1 × Filament Sensor (FAE010)
- 2 × BT2-5 mounting screws
Tools you'll need (not included): an H2.0 and an H1.5 hex key. Bambu Lab's A1 filament sensor replacement guide covers the full procedure — power the printer off first, unload and cut the filament, remove the filament hub assembly, then unscrew and unplug the sensor. Allow yourself a quiet 20 minutes rather than rushing it.
Compatibility
Designed for the Bambu Lab A1 and A1 mini only. It is not compatible with the X1 series, P1 series or H2 series — those printers use entirely different sensor parts.
One thing to check before ordering: this is the filament sensor itself, not the Filament Sensor Base (part FAC055), which is the separate moulded base the hall board and filament hub mount onto. They're different parts with similar names — if your fault is a cracked or broken mounting bracket rather than bad sensor readings, you want the base instead.
