Bambu Lab Front Housing Assembly — P1 Series (FAZ003)

The front housing assembly is the grey cover on the front of your P1P or P1S toolhead — and it is far more than a cover. Bambu Lab's own description is blunt about its job: it is "mainly used to cool the printed part so that the printed part can be shaped". The part cooling fan and its air duct are built into this one piece, so when the fan dies, rattles, or the magnetic cover cracks and stops seating flush, this single genuine spare puts it all right in one go.

If your overhangs have started drooping, bridges sag, PLA corners curl, or you can hear a grinding whirr from the toolhead on every layer change, the part cooling fan inside this housing is the usual suspect. It is a consumable in all but name — it spins on every print, it lives right next to a 300 °C hotend, and it collects dust and stray filament wisps. Replacing the whole assembly is the Bambu-sanctioned fix, and it is a far smaller job than it looks.

Will it fit my printer?

This is the P1 Series exclusive version — it fits the Bambu Lab P1P and P1S.

One more thing worth knowing: the illuminated toolhead logo that X1 owners have is part of the X1 housing's LED board. The P1 version does not include that LED — this part restores your cooling and your cover, not a light.

Fitting it — roughly ten minutes

Per Bambu Lab's P1 maintenance guide: unload your filament and let the nozzle cool below 50 °C, power the printer off, then remove the front housing assembly by disconnecting its fan connector. The new assembly plugs into that same connector and clips back on. There is no separate power supply and no AU plug to worry about — the fan is driven by the printer's own toolhead wiring. Afterwards, power up and use Control > Fans > Part Cooling Fan on the screen to confirm the new fan spins.
