About this product
Bambu Lab Front Housing Assembly — X1 Series
The front housing assembly is the hinged cover on the front of your X1 toolhead — and it is far more than a lid. Bambu Lab builds the part cooling fan and the toolhead system LED straight into it, held shut by a pair of small magnets. That makes it one of the most-handled parts on an X1C or X1E: you open it every time you change a nozzle, a hotend or a silicone sock, and it takes the heat, the airflow duty and the occasional filament blob.
Bambu Lab's own description sums up its job simply: it is "mainly used to cool the printed part so that the printed part can be shaped." If the fan has stopped, started rattling, the LED has gone dark, or the cover itself is cracked, scorched or no longer clicks shut, this genuine FAZ001 assembly replaces the whole lot in one go rather than hunting down a fan and a light separately.

When it's worth replacing
- Part cooling fan noise or failure — bearing whine, ticking, or a fan that won't spin up leaves overhangs and bridges sagging on PLA and PETG.
- Dead toolhead LED — no light during startup, or nothing when you're trying to watch a first layer or line up a timelapse.
- Cracked or melted housing — a nozzle blob or a crash can deform the cover so it fouls the print or no longer seals the airflow path.
- Cover won't stay shut — if the magnets have been knocked loose or the hinge has worn, the housing can swing open mid-print.
- Second machine, zero downtime — schools, print farms and small businesses often keep one on the shelf so a toolhead fault is a ten-minute fix, not a week of waiting.
Fitting it — about ten minutes, no tools
Bambu Lab's replacement guide for the X1 Series lists no fasteners or Allen keys for this job — it's a cable swap:
- Power the printer off, then open the front housing assembly.
- Disconnect the toolhead LED cable from its connector and release it from the cable clip.
- Connect that cable to the connector on the new front housing assembly.
- Seat the cable back into the clip and close the housing so the magnets catch.
- Power on. The toolhead LED should light during startup, and the fan should spin when you tap Control > Fans > Part Cooling Fan on the screen — that's your confirmation the swap worked.
Let the hotend cool fully before you start, and always work with the printer switched off at the wall.

Compatibility — check before you order
This part is X1 Series exclusive: Bambu Lab X1 Carbon (X1C) and X1E. Bambu Lab specifically warns that the connector type differs between the X1 Series and P1P versions of this assembly, so the P1 Series front housing is not a substitute and this one won't suit a P1P or P1S. If you're unsure which machine generation you have, check the model badge on the printer before ordering — or message us and we'll confirm it for you.
