About this product
Bambu Lab Hotend Heating Assembly — P2S
On the P2S, the hotend and the thing that heats it are two separate parts. The hotend (with its nozzle) clips in and out for nozzle changes; the Hotend Heating Assembly is the module that stays bolted to the toolhead, clamps around the hotend, and does the actual work — it carries the heater and the thermistor that reports nozzle temperature back to the printer. Bambu Lab describes it simply: "an accessory installed on the toolhead, responsible for heating the printing materials to a molten state."
That split is useful when you're diagnosing a fault. If the nozzle refuses to heat, heats slowly, overshoots, or throws a temperature error no matter which hotend you fit, the problem is almost always here rather than in the hotend. This is the genuine Bambu Lab replacement (OEM part FAH049) — the same module your P2S shipped with, so there's no guesswork about fit, connector pinout or temperature calibration.
Key features
Genuine Bambu Lab FAH049 Rated to 350 °C Heater + thermistor in one module Quick-release hotend clamp 3 mounting screws included P2S only
- Full 350 °C capability. The P2S hotend system is rated to 350 °C, so a healthy heating assembly is what lets you run the high-temperature engineering filaments the printer supports — not just PLA and PETG.
- Designed around the clamp. Bambu Lab's H2/P2S-generation design deliberately separates the thermal and electronic components from the hotend itself. The assembly uses a clamping mechanism, so hotends come out quickly for maintenance and the wiring stays put.
- A real repair, not a bodge. Heaters and thermistors are consumable — they fail from thermal cycling, from a nozzle clog that cooks the block, or from a cable that's been snagged. Swapping the module restores the printer to factory condition rather than patching around it.
- Straightforward to fit. Bambu Lab's own P2S guide walks through it: unload filament, let the hotend cool to 50 °C or below, power the printer off at the wall, then use an H1.5 Allen key. The three mounting screws you need are in the box.
Who it's for
- P2S owners troubleshooting heat faults — nozzle not reaching temperature, slow heat-up, temperature-abnormality errors, or thermistor/heater error codes that follow the toolhead rather than the hotend.
- Print farms and small businesses keeping a spare on the shelf so a dead heater costs an hour, not a week.
- Schools and makerspaces where a shared P2S takes a knock and the toolhead wiring needs restoring to OEM spec.
- Anyone who has had a serious clog that left filament baked into the heating base.
What's in the box
- 1 × Hotend Heating Assembly (P2S, FAH049) — heater and thermistor pre-assembled
- 3 × M2.5×5 mounting screws
Please note what is not included: the hotend and nozzle are a separate Bambu Lab part (the hotend clips into this assembly), and so is the hotend cooling fan — Bambu Lab's maintenance guide covers both jobs on one page, which is a common source of confusion. The H1.5 Allen key is also not supplied; the one from your P2S accessory kit is the right size.

Fitting it safely
- Unload the filament and let the hotend cool to 50 °C or lower.
- Power the printer off and disconnect it from the wall before touching any toolhead wiring — this is the step Bambu Lab calls out first, and it matters: live electronics and hand tools don't mix.
- Release the hotend from the clamp, then use the H1.5 Allen key to remove the old assembly and fit the new one with the supplied M2.5×5 screws.
- Reconnect, power up, and run a heat-up check before your first real print.
Bambu Lab's step-by-step guide with photos lives on the official wiki under P2S → Maintenance → Replace Hotend Heating Assembly and Cooling Fan. If you're not confident with toolhead wiring, it's a sensible job to hand to someone who is.
