Bambu Lab Hotend — P1 Series
The hotend is the one part of a P1P or P1S that genuinely wears out. Nozzles go out of round after a few kilos of carbon-fibre filament, a bad crash can mangle the tip, and heaters and thermistors eventually fail. This is the genuine Bambu Lab replacement for the P1 platform, available in four nozzle sizes and two configurations so you can buy exactly the repair — or the upgrade — your printer needs.
Changing nozzle size is also the cheapest real upgrade available to a P1 owner. A 0.2 mm tip turns the printer into a miniatures machine; a 0.8 mm tip turns the same printer into a large-part workhorse. Many owners keep two or three on the shelf and swap as the job demands.

Which configuration is right for you?
There are two decisions to make: how big a nozzle, and how much of the hot side you want to replace.
1. Pick your nozzle size
| Nozzle |
Material |
Best for |
| 0.2 mm |
Stainless steel |
Miniatures, fine text, jewellery masters, architectural detail. Slowest. No abrasive filaments. |
| 0.4 mm |
Hardened steel |
The default. Matches every stock Bambu Studio profile. Best all-round balance of detail and speed. |
| 0.6 mm |
Hardened steel |
Functional parts, jigs, enclosures. Noticeably faster, stronger walls, very tolerant of CF/GF. |
| 0.8 mm |
Hardened steel |
Planters, vases, props, moulds. Fastest by far, least fine detail. |
Abrasive filaments? Choose 0.4, 0.6 or 0.8 mm — those are hardened steel. The 0.2 mm nozzle is stainless steel and is not rated for PLA Sparkle, PLA Marble, wood/stone/metal-filled PLA, PA (nylon), TPU, or any carbon-fibre or glass-fibre composite.
2. Pick bare Hotend or Complete Hotend
| |
Hotend |
Complete Hotend |
| What you get |
Hotend with nozzle + 2× M3-14 step screws |
Hotend with nozzle pre-assembled with cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock and retaining clip + 2× M3-14 step screws |
| How it fits |
Clips into the heating assembly already on your printer |
Replaces the whole hot side as one unit |
| Choose it when |
Your heater, thermistor and fan are fine and you just want a new or different nozzle size |
You have heater or temperature errors, a failed hotend fan, a wrecked silicone sock — or you want a complete drop-in spare |
| Install effort |
Lowest — quick clip-in change |
Still straightforward, and nothing left to diagnose afterwards |
| Typical buyer |
Owners who swap nozzle sizes often, and keep spare tips on the shelf |
Schools, workshops and businesses that need the printer back fast |
Not sure? If the printer still heats correctly, buy the bare Hotend. If it throws a temperature or heater error, buy the Complete Hotend.

Who it's for
-
Hobbyists rescuing a clogged or crash-damaged nozzle without replacing the toolhead.
-
Makers who want a second nozzle size on the shelf — fine detail one weekend, big draft parts the next.
-
Small businesses printing abrasive CF or GF filaments, where a hardened nozzle is the difference between consistent parts and slow dimensional drift.
-
Schools and makerspaces keeping a complete spare assembly in the cupboard so a failed heater doesn't write off a term's printing.

0.2 mm Stainless Steel Hotend — P1 Series
The finest nozzle Bambu Lab makes for the P1 platform. If you print tabletop miniatures, scale models, architectural detail or jewellery masters, a 0.2 mm nozzle is the single biggest change you can make to how your P1P or P1S output looks — crisp edges, legible small text, far less sanding. The trade-off is time: most owners keep a 0.2 mm hotend on the shelf and fit it only for the jobs that deserve it.
This is the bare Hotend configuration — the hotend with the 0.2 mm stainless nozzle already fitted, plus 2× M3-14 step screws. It clips into the heating assembly already in your toolhead, reusing the cooling fan, ceramic heater and thermistor. If your printer is reporting heater or temperature errors, choose the Complete Hotend instead.
Material limits: stainless steel and a very small orifice mean no PLA Sparkle, PLA Marble, wood/stone/metal-filled PLA, PA (nylon), TPU, or carbon-fibre and glass-fibre composites. Plain PLA, PETG and ABS/ASA only.

0.4 mm Hardened Steel Hotend — P1 Series
The spare most P1P and P1S owners should keep. 0.4 mm is the size every stock Bambu Studio profile is tuned around, so fitting one restores your printer to a known-good baseline with no re-slicing habits to learn. The hardened steel nozzle is the practical upgrade over the stainless original: run carbon-fibre PETG or glass-filled nylon through a stainless tip and it wears out of round, quietly costing you dimensional accuracy. Hardened steel doesn't.
This is the bare Hotend configuration — hotend with the 0.4 mm hardened nozzle fitted, plus 2× M3-14 step screws. It clips into the heating assembly already mounted in your toolhead, so the cooling fan, ceramic heater and thermistor are reused. That makes it the quickest, cheapest way back from a clog, a crash or a worn nozzle. Heater or thermistor errors mean the fault is in the heating assembly — choose the Complete Hotend for those.
Good for: everyday PLA and PETG, functional ABS/ASA parts, CF and GF engineering filaments, and schools or workshops that want a known-good spare in the drawer.

0.6 mm Hardened Steel Hotend — P1 Series
0.6 mm is the quiet favourite among people who print parts rather than ornaments. A wider extrusion lays down more material per pass, so a bracket that took an afternoon at 0.4 mm comes off the plate noticeably sooner, and thicker walls hit the same strength with fewer perimeters. The bigger orifice is also far more forgiving with carbon-fibre and glass-fibre filaments, where short fibres are the usual cause of a stubborn partial clog.
This is the bare Hotend configuration — hotend with the 0.6 mm hardened nozzle fitted, plus 2× M3-14 step screws, clipping straight into the heating assembly already in your toolhead. Remember to select 0.6 mm in Bambu Studio and on the printer after fitting, or your first print will extrude against the wrong profile.
Good for: jigs and fixtures, enclosures, RC and drone parts, replacement brackets, and small businesses batching functional prints. Not the pick for miniatures or fine lettering.

0.8 mm Hardened Steel Hotend — P1 Series
When the model is large and the deadline is short, 0.8 mm is the answer. An extrusion twice the width of the stock nozzle means planters, vases, cosplay shells, moulds and workshop fixtures finish in a fraction of the time, with walls thick enough to be genuinely rigid. You give up fine surface detail and sharp small features in exchange — this is a bulk-geometry nozzle, and it is excellent at that job.
This is the bare Hotend configuration — hotend with the 0.8 mm hardened nozzle fitted, plus 2× M3-14 step screws, clipping into the heating assembly already in your P1P or P1S. Set the nozzle size in Bambu Studio and on the printer after the swap, and expect to tune print speed: at this diameter the limit is how fast the hotend can melt filament, not how fast the gantry can move.
Good for: planters, vases and large decor, cosplay and prop shells, sand-casting patterns, workshop jigs, and fast draft iterations of big parts.

0.2 mm Stainless Steel Complete Hotend — P1 Series
The whole hot side of your P1P or P1S in one box, fitted with the finest nozzle Bambu Lab offers for the platform. Where the bare hotend only replaces the nozzle end, the Complete Hotend arrives pre-assembled with its own cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor and silicone sock — so it resolves heating faults and temperature errors as well as giving you 0.2 mm detail. It is also the low-stress option for a first repair: far less to unplug, align and second-guess.
What this configuration includes: hotend with 0.2 mm stainless nozzle, hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock and retaining clip, pre-assembled as one unit, plus 2× M3-14 step screws. Choose it if your printer reports a heater or sensor error, the sock has torn, the hotend fan is noisy or dead, or you want a complete drop-in spare on the shelf.
Material limits: the 0.2 mm nozzle is stainless steel and is not rated for PLA Sparkle, PLA Marble, wood/stone/metal-filled PLA, PA (nylon), TPU, or carbon-fibre and glass-fibre composites.

0.4 mm Hardened Steel Complete Hotend — P1 Series
If you keep exactly one spare for your P1P or P1S, make it this one. It pairs the default 0.4 mm nozzle size — the one every stock Bambu Studio profile assumes — with a full replacement hot side, pre-assembled and ready to fit. A dead thermistor, a failed ceramic heater, a seized hotend fan or a nozzle cooked past rescuing all have the same answer here, and you are printing again the same afternoon instead of waiting on a diagnosis.
What this configuration includes: hotend with 0.4 mm hardened nozzle, hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock and retaining clip, pre-assembled as one unit, plus 2× M3-14 step screws. No nozzle torqueing and no fiddly thermistor handling — remove the old assembly, fit the new one, recalibrate.
Good for: schools, makerspaces and small businesses that cannot afford downtime, anyone running abrasive CF or GF filaments daily, and owners who would rather do one clean replacement than troubleshoot individual components.

0.6 mm Hardened Steel Complete Hotend — P1 Series
Two jobs in one part: restore a tired hot side and move your P1P or P1S up to the faster 0.6 mm nozzle at the same time. Wider extrusions mean functional parts come off the plate noticeably sooner and walls are chunkier for the same perimeter count, while the pre-assembled fan, heater and thermistor clear out any underlying heating faults. Plenty of owners run a dedicated 0.6 mm assembly as their production setup and keep the stock 0.4 mm for detail work — swapping between two complete assemblies takes minutes.
What this configuration includes: hotend with 0.6 mm hardened nozzle, hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock and retaining clip, pre-assembled as one unit, plus 2× M3-14 step screws. After fitting, set the nozzle to 0.6 mm in Bambu Studio and on the printer so your profiles extrude correctly.
Good for: batch-printing brackets, jigs and enclosures, RC and drone frames in CF-reinforced filament, and anyone whose prints are large enough that 0.4 mm has become the bottleneck.

0.8 mm Hardened Steel Complete Hotend — P1 Series
Dedicate a P1P or P1S to big geometry. This complete assembly arrives with the 0.8 mm hardened nozzle already fitted, along with its own cooling fan, ceramic heater and thermistor, so you get a fresh hot side and the fastest nozzle in the P1 range in one fitting. Planters, vases, cosplay shells, moulds and workshop fixtures that used to run overnight come off the plate in a fraction of the time, with walls thick enough to be genuinely load-bearing.
What this configuration includes: hotend with 0.8 mm hardened nozzle, hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock and retaining clip, pre-assembled as one unit, plus 2× M3-14 step screws — a straight swap rather than a parts-bin rebuild.
Worth knowing: at this diameter the limit is melt rate rather than motion speed, so expect to tune print speed down a little while volumetric flow catches up. Fine detail and small text will be softer than at 0.4 mm — for bulk parts that is a good trade.
