Bambu Lab Hotend — X1C
Nozzles are consumables. They wear, they block, and occasionally a print peels off the plate and welds itself to the tip. This is the genuine Bambu Lab replacement hotend range for the X1 and X1C, and it is also how you change nozzle size: pick the orifice and material you want, choose whether you want the bare hotend or the fully assembled Complete Hotend, and swap it in on the bench in minutes.
Every option here shares the same core hardware — a 47.3 mm hotend rated to 300 °C maximum printing temperature, running 1.75 mm filament, and fastened with two M3-14 step screws.

Which configuration is right for you?
There are two decisions: how much of the hotend you want supplied, and which nozzle goes on the end of it.
1. Bare Hotend or Complete Hotend?
| |
Hotend (bare) |
Complete Hotend |
| What's supplied |
Hotend with nozzle fitted + 2× M3-14 step screws |
Pre-assembled hotend + nozzle, hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock, retaining clip + 2× M3-14 step screws |
| What you do |
Transfer your existing fan, heater, thermistor and sock, and re-apply thermal grease |
Two screws, two connectors — no thermal grease, nothing to transfer |
| Bench time |
Longer — the old hotend has to be stripped carefully |
Shortest — genuinely a few minutes |
| Best when |
Your fan, heater and thermistor are healthy and you just want a fresh nozzle or a different size |
Something electrical has failed, you keep spare modules per nozzle size, or you simply don't want to disassemble anything |

Short version: if your X1C is your only printer and you want one spare on the shelf, take the 0.4 mm hardened steel Complete Hotend. Add a 0.2 mm for detail work or a 0.6/0.8 mm for speed as separate modules you can swap in and out.

Fitting tips
- Run a hotend change from the printer's maintenance routine so the toolhead parks and cools properly before you start.
- After fitting, tell Bambu Studio and the printer the new nozzle size and material — skipping this is the most common cause of a ruined first print after a swap.
- Re-run calibration (flow and pressure advance) for the filaments you use most — a different orifice changes both.
- On a bare hotend swap, take your time with the thermistor leads: they are thin and unforgiving.

0.2 mm Stainless Steel — Bare Hotend
The detail nozzle for the Bambu Lab X1 and X1C, supplied as a bare hotend: the hotend body with the 0.2 mm stainless steel nozzle already fitted, plus the two M3-14 step screws. Your existing hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor and silicone sock come off your old hotend and onto this one — the most economical way to add fine-detail capability when your current hardware is healthy.
In the box
- 1× X1C hotend with 0.2 mm stainless steel nozzle
- 2× M3-14 step screws
- You supply thermal grease and transfer your fan, heater, thermistor, sock and clip
Important: stainless steel at 0.2 mm is for clean filament only — PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PC and PVA. Carbon-fibre, glass-fibre, metal-filled, wood-filled and glow-in-the-dark materials will wear and block it. Use a hardened steel size for those.

0.4 mm Hardened Steel — Bare Hotend
0.4 mm is the size your X1C left the factory with, making this the straight like-for-like replacement for a worn, blocked or strike-damaged nozzle — upgraded to hardened steel so carbon- and glass-filled filaments are fair game. Supplied bare: the hotend with the nozzle fitted plus two M3-14 step screws, with your existing fan, heater and thermistor carried across.
In the box
- 1× X1C hotend with 0.4 mm hardened steel nozzle
- 2× M3-14 step screws
- You supply thermal grease and transfer your fan, heater, thermistor, sock and clip
If you keep only one spare nozzle on the shelf, make it this size. Expect roughly 500–1000+ hours on PLA and PETG, and around 200–500 hours on heavily filled carbon-fibre material.

0.6 mm Hardened Steel — Bare Hotend
Moving from 0.4 mm to 0.6 mm is the easiest way to cut print time on an X1C: more flow per pass, fewer perimeters for the same wall thickness, and parts that are measurably stronger between layers. It is also the size most people settle on for carbon- and glass-filled filament, where chopped fibres bridge and clog tighter nozzles. Supplied bare with the nozzle fitted and two M3-14 step screws.

0.8 mm Hardened Steel — Bare Hotend
The 0.8 mm nozzle turns the X1C into a volume machine. Thick extrusions and taller layers mean a large part that used to run overnight can finish inside a working day, with heavier, stiffer walls. Fine detail softens at this size — which is exactly the trade you want on props, planters, enclosures and draft iterations. Supplied bare with the nozzle fitted and two M3-14 step screws.

0.2 mm Stainless Steel — Complete Hotend
The fine-detail hotend for the X1 and X1C, supplied as a complete pre-assembled unit (Bambu Lab part FAH004). The 0.2 mm stainless steel nozzle arrives already married to its own hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock and retaining clip — so switching into detail mode is two screws and two connectors, with no thermal grease and nothing to transfer.
In the box
- 1× pre-assembled complete hotend with 0.2 mm stainless steel nozzle
- Hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock and retaining clip — fitted
- 2× M3-14 step screws
Important: keep this nozzle on clean filament — PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PC and PVA. Abrasive filled materials will wear and clog a 0.2 mm stainless tip quickly.

0.4 mm Hardened Steel — Complete Hotend
If you keep one spare part for your X1C, make it this one (Bambu Lab part FAH001). The complete assembly pairs the standard 0.4 mm nozzle size — in hardened steel, so filled filaments are fair game — with its own hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock and retaining clip, all fitted. When a print fails because of a blockage, a cooked thermistor or a seized fan, you swap the whole module in minutes instead of diagnosing which component died.

0.6 mm Hardened Steel — Complete Hotend
Keep a 0.6 mm complete hotend (Bambu Lab part FAH005) next to your standard 0.4 mm and you can switch the X1C from detail work to production work in the time it takes to undo two screws. Pre-assembled with its own hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock and retaining clip — no stripping, no thermal grease, no guessing which connector goes where.
In the box
- 1× pre-assembled complete hotend with 0.6 mm hardened steel nozzle
- Hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock and retaining clip — fitted
- 2× M3-14 step screws
The wider orifice is far less prone to the chopped-fibre jams that plague small nozzles, making this the go-to module for PA-CF, PET-CF and glass-filled nylon.

0.8 mm Hardened Steel — Complete Hotend
The widest nozzle in the X1C range (Bambu Lab part FAH003), supplied as a complete pre-assembled module with its own hotend cooling fan, ceramic heater, thermistor, silicone sock and retaining clip. Fit it when you have a large part to produce and the clock is the constraint — thicker extrusions and taller layers can turn a multi-day print into an overnight one. Swapping back to a finer nozzle later is two screws and two connectors away.
