About this product
Bambu Lab Lubricant Grease — Z-Axis Lead Screw Maintenance
Every Bambu Lab printer rides its bed up and down a pair of threaded lead screws, and those screws are the one part of the motion system that genuinely needs grease. Run them dry and you get the classic symptoms: a grinding or chirping noise on every Z move, visible banding in tall prints, and screws that wear faster than they should. This is Bambu Lab's own white grease — part number FAZ030 — packaged in small single-service tubes so you apply a fresh, clean dose instead of digging into a jar that has been collecting dust since last winter.
It is a simple, cheap consumable that sits at the centre of a sensible maintenance routine. If your printer has started to sound different, this is usually the first thing to reach for.
Key features
Genuine Bambu Lab FAZ030
Z-axis lead screws
Quietens belts & idlers
Fits all Bambu printers
6 g in single-service tubes
White, non-drip consistency
- Made for lead screws. Bambu Lab specify this grease to lubricate lead screws and to eliminate noise between belts and idle pulleys. Unlike a light oil, it stays where you put it on a vertical screw instead of creeping down and evaporating.
- Fixes belt and pulley squeak. A small amount where a belt wraps an idle pulley is the standard cure for the intermittent chirp some machines develop after a few hundred hours.
- Dosed in tiny tubes. Lead-screw servicing takes a surprisingly small amount of grease. Single-service tubes mean no contamination, no waste, and no guessing how old the open container is.
- One product for the whole fleet. Listed by Bambu Lab as "All Series", so a school lab or workshop running a mix of A1, P1 and X1 machines only needs this one item on the shelf.
Where it goes — and where it doesn't
This is worth two minutes of reading before your first service, because the two Bambu Lab lubricants are not interchangeable and one common mistake will actually hurt your print quality:
- Grease (this product) → the Z-axis lead screws, and between belts and idle pulleys.
- Oil (Bambu Lab Lubricant Oil, sold separately) → linear guides, slide rails and steel shafts. Bambu Lab note that while oil can go on a lead screw, it evaporates and needs far more frequent reapplication — which is exactly why the grease exists.
- Nothing at all → the X-axis carbon rods on X1 and P1 machines. Bambu Lab's maintenance guidance for those is isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth only. Lubricant on a carbon rod attracts dust and degrades accuracy, so never treat "lubricate the rods" as a blanket instruction.
How to apply: wipe the old grease off the screw first with a lint-free cloth, apply a thin film to the working section of each lead screw, then drive the X-gantry up and down through its full travel so the nut spreads it evenly. Wipe away any excess that builds up around the lead-screw nuts. Don't mix brands or types of grease on the same screw.
How often: Bambu Lab's A1 maintenance guidance calls for lead-screw lubrication roughly every 3 months, while community maintenance guides for the P1 series suggest cleaning and re-greasing the Z lead screws about monthly. Heavy-duty or dusty environments sit at the shorter end of that range; an occasional-use machine at the longer end. Listen to your printer — new noise on a Z move is the real trigger.
Who it's for
Anyone who owns a Bambu Lab printer and intends to keep it. Beginners should treat it as the one maintenance item to buy alongside the machine — it's the easiest service job on the printer and the hardest to get wrong. Makers and small businesses running long production queues will want it on the shelf permanently. Schools and makerspaces maintaining a bank of printers get a single consumable that covers every model in the room.
What's in the box
- Bambu Lab Lubricant Grease — 6 g total
- Bambu Lab ship this in one of two packaging forms, distributed at random: 6 × 1 g tubes or 2 × 3 g tubes. Both contain the same total quantity and the same grease, so either is the full product — we can't select which form you receive.
No applicator or cloth is included. A lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol for cleaning off the old grease are worth having on hand.
