About this product
Bambu Lab PLA Pure 1.75 mm — 1 kg Spool
PLA Pure is Bambu Lab's answer to a simple question: what if a PLA was formulated from the ground up for the room you actually print in? It's built from just five ingredients — every one of them certified for food contact under EU regulation 10/2011 — and the finished filament is certified to UL GREENGUARD (UL 2904) for low particle and VOC emissions, plus EN 71-3 for toy safety. If you print at a desk, in a classroom, in a shared office or anywhere near kids and pets, this is the PLA to reach for.
It prints like a well-behaved PLA, because it is one. No enclosure required, no exotic settings, no warping drama. Mechanically it sits right alongside Bambu PLA Basic — 75 MPa bending strength and 2,880 MPa bending modulus in XY — so you're not trading away part strength for a cleaner formulation. Typical uses: toys and figurines, kids' craft and school projects, kitchen organisers and pantry accessories, planters and homeware, prototypes, cosplay props and everyday functional prints.
Key Features
5 food-contact certified ingredients UL GREENGUARD 2904 low emissions EN 71-3 toy safety certified PLA Basic-level strength RFID auto-recognition AMS & AMS lite compatible ± 0.03 mm diameter Reusable spool
The embedded RFID tag means Bambu Lab printers with an AMS or AMS lite recognise the filament type and colour the moment you load it, and pull in the matching print profile automatically. On non-Bambu machines it runs on any standard 1.75 mm direct-drive or Bowden extruder — Prusa, Creality, Elegoo, Anycubic, Sovol and friends all handle it happily with a generic PLA profile.
Print Settings
- Nozzle temperature: 190–230 °C (start around 210 °C)
- Bed temperature: 35–65 °C (50 °C is a reliable starting point; textured PEI releases cleanly once cool)
- Print speed: up to ~200 mm/s on a well-tuned CoreXY; 50–120 mm/s on bed-slinger and entry-level machines
- Cooling: part cooling fan on, 100% after the first layer — PLA Pure loves airflow for crisp overhangs and sharp detail
- Enclosure: not required; if you print enclosed, leave the chamber door or lid open to avoid heat creep
- Drying (if needed): 50 °C for 8 hours in a filament dryer or blast oven

Tips From Our Workshop
Keep it dry. PLA is less thirsty than nylon or PETG, but Australian humidity still gets to it — especially over a Queensland summer. Store opened spools in a sealed box or bag with fresh desiccant (under 20% RH). If you start seeing stringing, popping sounds or a rough, foamy surface finish, the spool has taken on moisture: run it at 50 °C for 8 hours in a filament dryer and it'll print like new.
About the food-contact certification. The certifications cover the raw ingredients and the filament itself, not your finished print. Any FDM part has microscopic layer lines that trap bacteria, so for anything that touches food we'd stick to dry, short-contact or single-use items — cookie cutters, dry-goods scoops, pantry organisers — rather than plates, cups or anything you'll scrub repeatedly. PLA also softens around 60 °C, so keep prints out of the dishwasher and away from a hot car dashboard.
