Bambu Lab PTFE Tube — the part everyone forgets until it fails

PTFE tube is the quiet workhorse of a Bambu Lab setup. It's the low-friction sleeve that guides filament from the spool, through the AMS, along the hub and into the extruder — and because filament is constantly sliding through it, it wears out. Carbon-fibre, glass-filled and glitter-loaded filaments chew through it fastest.

You'll usually notice it as a symptom rather than a fault: filament that won't feed reliably, retractions that feel sluggish, or a nest of filament building up inside the AMS. Replacing the tube is one of the cheapest, fastest pieces of maintenance you can do.

This is the genuine Bambu Lab tubing (part FAT005) in grey — 2.5 mm inner diameter, 4 mm outer diameter, sized for 1.75 mm filament, supplied as 4000 mm of tube. That's enough to re-tube an entire A1 with spare left over, or several AMS repairs from one purchase.

Fitting tips

• Cut square. An angled or squashed end catches filament. Use a flush cutter or a sharp blade rolled around the tube.
• Push fully home. Seat the tube into the collet until it stops, then give a gentle tug to confirm it's locked.
• Replace in sets. If one tube is worn, the others usually are too — that's what the 4 m length is for.
• Track your abrasives. Printing a lot of CF or GF filament? Inspect the tube bore every few kilograms.
