About this product
Bambu Lab Silicone Sock for Hotend — X2D (3-Pack)
The silicone sock is the small black cover that wraps your X2D's hotend, and it does more work than its size suggests. Bambu Lab describes its job plainly: it maintains nozzle temperature stability and isolates impurities, preventing filament from soiling the nozzle and affecting print quality. Without it, cooling-part airflow pulls heat straight off the heater block, your temperature readings wander, and stray plastic bakes onto the nozzle where it eventually drops into a print.
This is the genuine Bambu Lab spare, part number FAH048, and it ships as a pack of three — so you have replacements ready the next time one tears, deforms or goes brittle, rather than pausing a job to order a single part.

What it does for your prints
- Steadier nozzle temperature. The sock insulates the heater block from the part-cooling fan, so the hotend holds its setpoint instead of fighting airflow — which shows up as more consistent extrusion on fast perimeters and bridges.
- A cleaner nozzle. It keeps oozed filament off the heater block, so you aren't scraping away a growing blob between jobs or picking burnt specks out of a finished part.
- Protection for the expensive bit. Residue that bakes onto a bare heater block is far harder to remove than a worn sock is to replace. The sock is the consumable; the hotend assembly isn't.
- Tear-resistant and flexible. Moulded silicone with cutouts for the nozzle tip and wiring, so it sits flush without fouling the toolhead.
When to replace your sock
Bambu Lab's X2D maintenance guide lists three signs it's time to swap it out:
- Cracks or tears — visible splits let heat escape and make printing temperatures unstable.
- Deformation — prolonged high temperatures can warp it so it no longer fits tightly or fully covers the hotend.
- Discolouration or brittleness — a sign the silicone has aged and is nearing failure.
If you print a lot of high-temperature engineering materials, expect to get through these faster than a PLA-only user will. That's the reason Bambu sells them in threes.
Fitting it (no tools needed)
- Power off the printer and disconnect it from the wall before you touch the toolhead, and let the hotend cool.
- Open the magnetically secured Toolhead Front Cover Assembly and hang it on the toolhead.
- Hold both sides of the old sock and pull it diagonally downward with a bit of force.
- Fit the new sock onto the hotend from the bottom up.
- Check the result: the hotend should be secure with no looseness, and the sock should sit square with no slanting. Close the front cover.
No Allen key, no disassembly — this is a two-minute job. Full step-by-step instructions are on the Bambu Lab wiki at wiki.bambulab.com.
Compatibility — read this before ordering
This sock is made for the Bambu Lab X2D. The same part (FAH048) also fits the P2S, which shares the hotend design. It is not interchangeable with the A1-series, P1/X1-series or H2D socks — those are different mouldings with different bottom geometry, and a sock from the wrong family sits loose on the hotend. If you run more than one Bambu machine, check which model you're buying for.
Works with every filament your X2D does
The sock is material-agnostic — it protects the hotend regardless of what's loaded. It's most valuable on higher-temperature and abrasive-adjacent jobs where oozing and heat loss cost you the most: PLA, PETG, ABS/ASA, TPU, PA/nylon, PC and carbon- or glass-filled composites.
What's in the box
- 3 × Silicone Sock for Hotend (X2D / P2S, black)
No hotend, nozzle or tools are included — this is the sock only.
Who it's for
Anyone running an X2D and keeping it in good order — makers who want consistent surface finish, small businesses who can't afford a nozzle blob ruining a client job, and schools and workshops that need a cheap, no-tools consumable on the shelf. If you've just bought a replacement hotend, add a sock pack; if your current sock is torn or stiff, this is the fix.
