Bambu Lab H2D — dual-nozzle 3D printer, and optionally a laser cutter too
The H2D is Bambu Lab's flagship desktop machine and the first with two fully independent hotends. That matters for reasons beyond two-colour printing: one nozzle can run your model material while the other runs a soluble or breakaway support, so complex geometry comes off the plate cleanly without the purge waste that single-nozzle multi-material printing produces. Both hotends are all-metal and reach 350 °C, with hardened steel nozzles fitted as standard so abrasive carbon- and glass-filled filaments are a normal day's work rather than a consumable-destroying experiment.
Around that sits a large, fully enclosed, actively heated chamber. 350 × 320 mm of bed, 325 mm of height, 120 °C bed temperature and chamber heating to 65 °C — the combination that lets ABS, ASA, PC and nylon print to size without the corners lifting. The motion system runs to 1000 mm/s and 20,000 mm/s², and a Vision Encoder holds motion accuracy to 50 µm, so speed does not come at the cost of dimensional parts.
The H2D also comes in a Laser Edition that adds a 10 W or 40 W blue-light laser module and a blade cutting module to the same enclosure. Engrave, cut plywood and acrylic, plot with a pen, and 3D print — one machine, one bench, one piece of software. For a school lab, a makerspace or a small product business, that consolidation is usually the deciding factor.

Which configuration is right for you?
All six options are the same printer underneath. What changes is the filament handling and whether the laser hardware is present. The one decision you cannot revisit later is the laser: the Laser Edition chassis has safety windows and the BirdsEye camera built in, so if engraving is on your roadmap, buy it that way from the start. AMS units can be added at any time.

What it adds |
Best for |
| H2D / standard |
Printer only — no AMS, no laser |
Mostly single-material work in large parts; budget to filament rather than hardware |
| H2D AMS Combo / Standard |
1 × AMS 2 Pro — 4 spools, active drying |
The default choice: multi-colour prints, dry filament, soluble supports on the second nozzle |
| H2D AMS Combo / Dual AMS 2 Pro Bundle |
A second AMS 2 Pro — 8 spools total |
8-colour work, batch production, long unattended jobs with duplicated spools |
| H2D AMS Combo / AMS HT bundle |
AMS 2 Pro + AMS HT — 5 slots, 85 °C drying, low-resistance bypass path |
Engineering materials: PA, PA-CF, PC, PET-CF and soft TPU kept print-ready |
| H2D Laser Full Combo / 10W |
AMS 2 Pro + 10 W laser + cutting module + safety and platform kit |
Fine detail engraving, photo work, small text; cuts to 5 mm basswood ply |
| H2D Laser Full Combo / 40W |
AMS 2 Pro + 40 W laser + cutting module + safety and platform kit |
Production cutting and speed: 15 mm basswood ply, engraving to 1000 mm/s |
10 W or 40 W? The 40 W cuts three times deeper and engraves two and a half times faster. The 10 W has a much finer spot (0.03 × 0.14 mm against 0.14 × 0.2 mm), so it holds more detail on photo engraving and small lettering. Pick on which of those two things you do more often — the modules are interchangeable if your needs change.
What people actually use it for
-
Functional parts and jigs — ABS, ASA, PC and PA-CF brackets, fixtures and tooling that hold tolerance thanks to the heated chamber
-
Clean complex geometry — model material in nozzle one, soluble support in nozzle two, minimal purge waste

Setting it up in an Australian workspace
At 31 kg bare and 620 mm wide in its carton, plan for two people to lift it and a bench that will not flex. It runs from a standard 10 A AU GPO, but peak draw is high enough that we would not share a circuit with a kettle or a heater. If you have chosen a laser configuration, sort 100 mm ducting to outside air before the machine arrives — it is the one thing that holds people up on day one.

Bambu Lab H2D — printer only
The base H2D: the complete printer, with none of the add-on modules. Mechanically identical to every other configuration — the same dual-nozzle toolhead with two independent 350 °C all-metal hotends, the same 65 °C actively heated chamber, the same servo-driven motion system and Vision Encoder. What you are leaving off is the filament handling and the laser hardware.
Right for you if you mostly print one material at a time in large parts — functional ABS and ASA brackets, PC fixtures, PA-CF jigs, long cosplay or architectural pieces — and would rather spend the difference on filament and nozzles. You still get the dual-nozzle advantage manually: model material in one hotend, support material in the other, with the printer handling tool changes.

Bambu Lab H2D AMS Combo
The configuration most people land on. The complete H2D printer plus one AMS 2 Pro — a four-slot filament station that sits on top of the machine, keeps spools dry, and feeds whichever one the print calls for. Combined with the H2D's two independent nozzles, a single job can pull four colours through one hotend while the second runs a dedicated support material.
The AMS 2 Pro's active drying is the part that quietly matters in Australian conditions. Humidity ruins PETG, PA and TPU faster than most people expect; the electromagnetic vents open to exhaust moisture during a dry cycle and seal shut between jobs, so filament loaded months ago still prints properly.

Bambu Lab H2D Laser Full Combo — 10 W
The Laser Edition H2D swaps the standard glass for laser-safety windows and accepts an interchangeable laser head alongside the printing toolhead. The 10 W module is the finer of the two options: a 0.03 × 0.14 mm focused spot makes it the better choice for detailed photo engraving, fine line work and small text, while still cutting basswood plywood up to 5 mm.
Because the laser lives inside the same enclosure as the printer, you get a BirdsEye camera at 3264 × 2448 for placing artwork on the real material, 850 nm infrared auto height measurement, flame and temperature detection, a door sensor that cuts the beam, and a removable safety key. The overall machine is rated laser safety Class 1 when operated closed and correctly vented. Add the cutting module with its pen holder and the same machine becomes a vinyl and cardstock cutter and a plotter.
10 W laser Fine detail engraving Blade cutting Class 1 enclosure AMS 2 Pro included
What's in the box
- H2D Laser Edition printer with laser-safety windows and BirdsEye camera
- 10 W laser module (455 ± 5 nm blue light, 850 nm IR height measuring)
- Cutting module with pen holder
- Laser platform and cutting platform
- AMS 2 Pro (4-spool, active drying)
- Emergency stop button, laser safety key, 100 mm ventilation pipe adapter
- Textured PEI build plate, spool holder, toolbox, accessory box, AU/NZ power lead
Plan for extraction. Laser work produces smoke and fine particulate. The ventilation adapter takes 100 mm ducting — run it to a window, a wall vent or an inline fume extractor before your first cut.

Bambu Lab H2D Laser Full Combo — 40 W
The same Laser Edition machine as the 10 W combo, with the high-power head fitted. The difference is throughput and depth: 40 W ± 2 W cuts basswood plywood to 15 mm versus 5 mm, and engraves at up to 1000 mm/s versus 400 mm/s. For batch work — signage, laser-cut product parts, packaging prototypes, market stock — the 40 W pays for itself in time saved per sheet.
The trade-off is spot size. At 0.14 × 0.2 mm the 40 W beam is wider than the 10 W module's 0.03 × 0.14 mm, so the 10 W holds a genuine advantage on fine photo engraving and small text. Choose 40 W when cutting depth and speed matter most. The modules are interchangeable, so neither choice locks you out.
Everything else carries across: BirdsEye camera at 3264 × 2448, 850 nm infrared auto height measurement, flame and temperature detection, door-sensor beam cut-off, removable safety key and emergency stop. Overall laser safety Class 1 in normal closed operation. The printing side is completely unchanged.

Bambu Lab H2D AMS Combo + AMS HT bundle
This bundle pairs the H2D AMS Combo with an AMS HT — Bambu's single-spool, high-temperature material station. Both run on the same printer at the same time, which is the point: the AMS 2 Pro handles your four everyday colours, and the AMS HT holds one engineering filament permanently conditioned and ready.
The AMS HT does two things the AMS 2 Pro cannot. It dries to 85 °C rather than the lower temperatures suited to PLA and PETG, which is what nylon, PA-CF, PC and PET-CF actually need to print without bubbling or stringing. And it uses a straight filament bypass path that cuts feed resistance — the practical fix for both stiff carbon- and glass-reinforced spools and soft TPU that buckles in a conventional AMS feed.
For engineering workshops, prototyping teams and small manufacturers running the H2D's 65 °C chamber and 350 °C hotends to their limits, this is the configuration that keeps those capabilities usable day to day.
5 slots total 85 °C drying CF & GF friendly TPU bypass path
What this adds over the standard AMS Combo
- 1 × AMS HT single-spool automatic material system
- Active drying up to 85 °C for engineering-grade filaments
- Low-resistance filament bypass path for rigid fibre-reinforced and soft TPU spools
- Feed tubes and mounting hardware to run it alongside the AMS 2 Pro
Plus the complete AMS Combo kit: H2D printer, AMS 2 Pro (4 spools, active drying, RFID recognition), textured PEI build plate, two 0.4 mm hardened steel nozzles fitted, spool holder, toolbox and accessory box, AU/NZ power lead.

Bambu Lab H2D Dual AMS 2 Pro bundle
Two AMS 2 Pro units, eight slots, one printer. For people who hit the four-colour ceiling and keep hitting it — model makers, board game and miniature producers, classrooms running a shared queue, and anyone printing multi-colour signage or product parts in batches.
Eight slots do more than add colours. Duplicate the same filament across two slots and the H2D switches over automatically when the first spool runs dry, which turns a 40-hour print from a gamble into a scheduled job. Or split the difference: four display colours in one unit, four functional materials in the other, with the dual nozzle still free to run a dedicated soluble support. Every slot has active drying with electromagnetic vents that seal between cycles.
Both units mount on the H2D's frame and share the same RFID recognition, so loading a Bambu spool brings its material profile, colour and remaining length with it — no manual mapping across sixteen half-used spools.
8 spool slots 8-colour printing Auto spool switching Active drying throughout
What this adds over the standard AMS Combo
- A second AMS 2 Pro (4 more slots, 8 total)
- Automatic spool-to-spool continuation when a duplicated filament runs out mid-print
- Additional PTFE feed tubes, buffer and hub hardware to link both units
Plus the complete AMS Combo kit: H2D printer, first AMS 2 Pro, textured PEI build plate, two 0.4 mm hardened steel nozzles fitted, spool holder, toolbox and accessory box, AU/NZ power lead.
Worth knowing: eight-colour prints generate a lot of purge waste by nature — plan for a prime tower, and consider assigning the second nozzle to a support or secondary material to cut the number of swaps. Check your bench height too; two AMS units add meaningful clearance above the 626 mm printer.
